Dr. Michael Bunch, MD

I found Dr. Bunch rather cold and distant during nearly all my appointments. There was very little if any examination, and I do not feel he was really listening to me. I am the one living with this body, and I know what I was referred for by my orthopedic. I truly felt he did not look at the area of concern that I was referred to him for. His scheduling staff has not even once called me to discuss times I can see him. Instead they scheduled me whenever they wanted to, and then I would get an automated cal telling me to arrive at say 7:30 am, or 2:30 or 3:30 pm a day or two before. And if I could not keep said appointment, then it would be a month before I would be able to get in again. Dr. Bunch did not seem to be completely unlikeable, but all these things combined left me very disappointed and unsure of my options with this provider.

Dr. Bunch really paid attention to what I was explaining. His procedures were thorough and amazing. His staff explain everything and are very helpful. I was using a walker when I first visited - now I couldn't tell you where it is! Thank you Dr. Bunch!

He LISTENS. He is about quality of life. Not pain meds. He doesn't abide by the "just getting older" mantra. And not once did he tell me to lose weight. He has given me epidural/steroid shots in my spine and sacroiliac joint and knee. Very explanatory and about comfort level of the patient. Having shots in my spine required me to go the surgical center at Blount Memorial (staff is excellent and fun while very professional. Give me a surgical nurse or their staff to hang out with any time) I had to bear my backside, face down on surgical table. Not once was I uncomfortable or exposed openly. (But poor Dr Bunch. Literally...Butt) Best bedside manner of any Dr I have met. His staff is GREAT, very knowledgeable and FUN. Easy appointments. Great follow-up and very successful outcomes of my procedures. And he is very kind about questions. I would send my kids to him. Other medical professionals could stand to learn from him and his staff how to treat women in pain.
