Get Away from this person!!- Run if you're able!!
Doesn't listen ... when you manage to get him to hear you he will not answer a question and SO arrogant I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Then he repeats his rehearsed monologue 5 to 7 times at your visit. It's not just me noting this, my bride was sitting there shaking her head while he rambled on saying nothing. He's truly the worst I've ever encountered in my 67 years. GET AWAY FROM HIM RIGHT AWAY !!!

Condescending and Does not listen
I have had a lot of surgeons over the year but have never been treated like an imbecile before. First visit, broken 5th meratarsal and ankle. He didn't show me my xrays, required my husband to be in the room questioned the circumstances of the injury. Did not care that I had broken my foot before and surgery on both feet. Barely blinked when I mentioned it. Didn't look at the foot or ankle. 2nd visit, half way there, condescending, repeated everything 3 times like I was mentally impaired. Lectured me on the importance of wearing the boot. Did not show me the xray or discuss how it was healing. 3rd asked me 3 times if I had been walking without the boot. Goaded me that I probably had. I had not! I confronted him nearly in tears and he babbled on. I just waited for him to stop and said I was done. I complained to the staff and they said they get lots of complaints and it isn't me. Wish I had read the reviews. Other Dr's in that office are wonderful to talk with.

Love this Doctor!
I am not sure why this man has such a low rating. He’s excellent! You have to remember that he is just the surgeon, he’s not the Physical Therapist or Nursing staff or Home Health Care. Once you realize this, it’s a no brained, he’s the best around. I’m 69 years old and took a tumble down my stairs at 4 in the morning. Dr. Brown put in a plate and screws on both sides of my ankle. During my office visits I noticed that he lays out his expectations for what he expects at your next visit. I never felt as if I disappointed him if I didn’t make that goal as he deferred to my confidence and comfort level. It takes a while to understand his ways but hopefully this review will help you. He is a fantastic surgeon. I owe him my ability to walk again. Hear him out, then ask your questions. I trust him with every bone in my body! You should too!

Ruined My Whole Day as I was Treated So Poorly
Every unfavorable thing people said in their reviews happened to me too so I do not need to repeat them. Sure wish I had read the reviews before I made appointment. I can only hope the doctor treats his staff better than he does his patients. I am 68 years old and have never had such a bad experience with any other physician.

Condescending egomaniac at best.
Vulgarly dismissive & terrible bedside manner. Condescending and resistant to clarification. Impatient and unwilling to clarify statements. A fraudulent use of honest money. Shame on you, Dr. Brown and OrthoVA. Defaulting on an ethical healthcare; dereliction of HIPAA tenets. I left feeling worse than when I arrived. Also, deeply unprofessional conduct of front desk staff; keep personal conversations just that: personal (and private).

Seek Another Provider
Dr. Brown was rude, judgmental, and condescending throughout my appointment. He recommended treatment option that I did not want to do and was pushy to the point where I asked for the script just to get him to leave. I don’t understand the praise that he gets when he treats his patients terribly. I would not be recommending him to anyone.

Find another doctor!
Worst experience ever - Dr. Brown was rude and condescending - didn't even introduce himself. I went in with 2 broken ankles (was told by the ER to follow-up with an orthopedic doc) and Dr. Brown never removed my temporary casts and looked at my ankles. The only 'exam' he did was to ask me to wiggle my toes - that was it! Wanted to do an x-ray where I would have to stand unassisted on both feet...husband asked if that might do more damage and Dr. Brown replied with a shrug - I opted to not have the x-ray. Didn't really give me any info, didn't listen to anything I said, didn't answer questions that my husband had. It was just awful.

The worst- not worth a star
Everything I’ve read from the other reviews could’ve been from me. He was the most condescending doctor and probably human I’ve ever come across. Talked over me. Didn’t listen to me. They took X-rays but he never showed them to me. Was very late for the appointment. I’m supposed to have a follow up but I will switch to someone else. I’ve never had an appointment like that.

Condescending
Dr. Brown performed my double fractured ankle surgery after an accident. Since I needed immediate surgery, I did not have the time to shop around for a doctor and just took the first available. I hope I never have to do that again. Our communication never failed to be condescending, rude, rushed, and contentious and when I asked questions. The worst experience in a doctors office I've ever had.

Worst experience ever
This was the most uncomfortable doctor’s appointment I have ever had. I waited 30 minutes for the doctor to come in after I sat in the exam room. I explained how it happened and how I thought I fractured my heel before when I was younger but could not recall how I did it because that was over 10 years ago and Dr. Brown became frustrated because I don’t remember what happened. From that point it was down hill. I could not finish a sentence without him cutting me off and telling me how I was wrong and he was right. I explained the boot only helped a little bit but it is still extremely painful to walk. I also noted that now my other foot is having similar pain but not as extreme and I was concerned it’s going to continue to get worse. He then felt my planter fascia in both feet and seemed to go harder on the one that is in the most pain. He then said I am going to get you a packet to read and walked out of the room. He returned to the room and handed me a single sheet of paper and said t

Dr. Brown
Dr. Michael H. Brown operated on my broken, right ankle on June 16, 2023. I am a sixty-three year old diabetic, and I am aware of the many complications which could have arisen in my particular situation. Dr. Brown is an excellent surgeon. He is caring, and extremely knowledgeable in his field. He was refreshingly honest regarding my personal difficulties and goals. Fortunately, he did not hesitate to remind me that recovering from such an injury would take months even for a young, healthy patient. Thanks to his approach, I have progressively healed from being wheelchair bound to walking in only four months without otherwise probable complications. I will be eternally grateful to Dr. Brown. May God bless him always. Kudos to his team as well. They have all been helpful, kind, professional, and caring.

Condescending and Horrible Bedside Manner
I’m a nurse and have never experienced worse bedside manner. He walked in and didn’t even introduce himself. He talked to me for 3 minutes and didn’t give me a chance to ask questions before not even saying he was leaving and walking out of the room. I had to ask him to come back to ask questions and he billed me for 30 minutes. Didn’t even bother going to my next appointment because he was just rude and unhelpful. Would never recommend him anyone.

Dr. Brown was rushed and extremely rude. Although he may be the expert, there is NO reason to treat patients the way that he does. If you have an opportunity to see another provider, DO SO. Dr. Brown will leave you feeling incompetent and confused.

I want my copay back
Have been to other physicians in this group this is the first time I felt unheard and wanted my $40.00 copay back. I initially went to an orthopedic clinic and the PA sent me to PT. A few weeks later, I had a pain that the PT sent me back to the PA to look at. The concern was: Is it a disease state or inflammation that aggravated arthritis. I told him the PA said arthritis and he said the PA’s notes said disease state. I had several questions, but I was cut off or redirected. I have another issue with the same foot, but he would discuss any of that. I would have been OK, if he said, “ let’s work in this one problem now, and later evaluate the rest”. But I left with no real plan. I’ve never had any issues with anyone from this group before this visit. If your problem is a surgical procedure on the website, you’ll be OK. Just remember, conversation will be difficult. They had a personable and excellent foot surgeon, but he retired and passed I’ve never written a review of anything,

Poor Bedside Manner
I had a horrible experience with Dr. Brown. He is very condescending and treated me as though I was wasting his time. I was referred to him by another physician in his practice, but I don't think he read any notes or knew my history. I believe he's probably good at what he does, but do not recommend him unless you don't mind being talked down to and treated disrespectfully. I found it interesting that his office has kindness posters that ask patients to be kind to the staff. He should take note.

Not sure why anyone found Dr Brown to be rude. He simply tells you what to expect. He did a great job with an older tendon tear, having to harvest one from another area. Answered any and all concerns. I found no problem with his bedside manner. Knowledge is far more important.
