Dr. Merritt Hubsher, MD

Dr. Hubsher is not only unbelievably knowledgeable in his field, but he is extremely patient, kind and compassionate. Dr. Hubsher went above and beyond to set up the perfect treatment plan for us. Not only did he prescribe the exact medication we needed to get back on track, but he took the time to really listen and showed so much care and concern for our situation and my family as a whole. I found this to be very unique and as a result have referred him to multiple friends and family members who have all been equally as happy with Dr. Hubsher. I strongly recommend the ADHD Mood and Behavior center; they are a pleasure to work with.

My son was not getting the grades in school he should have. He wasn’t getting assignments done. He wouldn’t study for tests. His teachers said he was lazy. We tried everything, rewards, punishments, tutors, nothing worked. We were constantly fighting. We found ADHD, Mood & Behavior Center and got him evaluated. Dr. Hubsher spent a lot of time explaining everything to us. Our son felt he was the first person who understood him. We followed his recommendations and everything started to change. Not only did he start doing his homework, he started to care. Even the teachers saw a difference. Now he gets the grades we always thought he was capable of and he is starting to believe in himself for the first time. The fighting has stopped and our whole family is doing better. We can’t thank Dr. Hubsher enough!

I had taken my teenage son to Dr. Hubsher after seeing very nice reviews. However, we found Dr. Hubsher very cold and he did not seem to care about patient. These were all virtual appointments and in one of them I was sharing something that I was extremely concerned with, but he was half listening while eating a sandwich during the appointment! Also, I made therapist appointment in the same practice, but the therapist had no information/notes from the intake appointment with Dr. Hubsher. So I rescheduled the therapist appointment. The same thing happened more than once. We wasted a lot of time seeing Dr. Hubsher and the therapist in a very crucial period for my son as well as thousands of dollars. I have gone to many doctors and psychiarists in my life and this was decisively the worst experience!

I am a young adult who has struggled with temper issues, high and low energy swings, irritability, and other mood issues. Looking back, I probably could have been diagnosed with Bipolar in adolescence, but it wasn't until I was in college that I met Dr. Hubsher. He listened to my symptoms and prescribed appropriate medications. He really takes the time to get to know you. He offers a human aspect to psychiatry that is often missing. My only criticism is he treated me a bit like a kid when he talked to my parents; I felt like he was discussing private things with them. But I also understand that talking with the parents is critical to see how others view someone's behavior. And whom better to talk to than the parents! It is all part of Dr. Hubsher's approach: paint a picture of the person in front of you. "What does their illness look like for them? How can I treat it?" are two important questions Dr. Hubsher asks. He cares, and it shows.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hubsher’s for more than 26 years. My experience with Dr. Hubsher is that he is thorough, attentive, right on target with diagnoses and suggested treatments. He truly cares for his patients and their well being. The fact he makes himself readily available for his patients has truly been a gift unlike other doctors. Dr. Hubsher answers the call when other doctors ignore them. Issues arise on weekends and holidays within this specialty and to know Dr. Hubsher is available when I need someone for medication guidance and suggestions as well as immediate interventions as needed has saved my life multiple times. Dr. Hubsher has his patients’ best interests at heart. He’s very professional and often times leaves his patients laughing or with something to smile about. He’s a true gem!

Bringing my teenaged son to Dr. Hubsher was life-changing, not only for my son, but our whole family. Watching him suffer with self doubt, low self esteem and depression was heart-wrenching. He could not see what everybody else could; that he was a kind, talented, funny, caring brother, son, teammate and friend. When we asked our pediatrician for a referral, Dr. Hubsher was without a doubt, the one he wanted us to see. So we did, and it was the best thing that ever happened to my son. Dr. Hubsher took his time in getting to know him and was so sincere in his care. I have my son back and he is content with himself. He is confident, funny, caring and he actually likes who he is! We cannot thank Dr. Hubsher enough.

Visiting Dr. Hubsher has been a turning point for my life. I am not your typical ADHD sufferer. I am a 40 year old man who finally decided to stop grinding out daily life and seek assistance. When it came to my difficulty with challenges others could handle, I was always told to "gut it out" or "deal with it" and the thought of seeking a professionals help was a PETRIFYING concept for me. I was afraid that to get help would mean I am not self sufficient, I am weak and I should be embarrassed for not having the discipline of others. I am a father of a young boy. My desire to break the patterns of my upbringing and be the man my wife and son deserve is what gave me the courage to call. Working with Dr. Hubsher, I have learned more about myself than I ever thought possible. I am finally the man I always wanted to be and I can be WITHOUT the struggle. Dr. Hubsher changed our daughter’s life. After struggling with school for two years, she was stupid. Then my sister suggested Dr. Hubsher...it all turned around from there. He listened to us, and more importantly to our daughter. The medication and his confirmation that she could succeed, and she was off like a shot. Two years later, and it’s honor roll every marking period and a confidence in herself that shines in her smile. Very grateful to him!

I was concerned my son was suffering from depression & wanted to see a dr ASAP. 2 drs offices I called never even returned my phone calls. Dr. Hubsher’s staff got right back to me & scheduled an appt. within days. Office staff is very pleasant & easy to deal with. Dr. Hubsher is very thorough, easy to talk to (my son feels the same way) and caring. He does not rush through the appts. I am so happy we found Dr. Hubsher and my son is doing so much better now.

I brought my child to Dr. Hubsher when he was experiencing acute anxiety. In the process of helping my son with both medically and with counseling, Dr. Hubsher suggested that perhaps it would be helpful if I sought treatment. My anxiety stems from trauma in childhood and I always lived with it, but after seeking treatment, my life has changed. I can now sleep through the night and am able to recognize "normal" anxiety vs. not normal anxiety. This doctor and practice have been life changing.

I highly recommend Dr. Hubsher, because he has changed my son's life. Everyone that dealt with my son had recommended residential placement. Dr H was able to incorporate medications that stabilized him. We had tried other psychiatrists, but he had to be hospitalized without any success. Dr. Hubsher is wonderful!!

My husband and I would highly recommend Dr. Hubsher. We came to him desperate for help with our son and within a few sessions he was able to diagnose and help our son more than doctors we had seen for months at a time. Dr. Hubsher put together plans for both therapy and medication which have made all the difference. He took the time to listen to my son and as such earned his trust. The flexibility in scheduling Dr. Hubshir offers helps keep the family involved.

Dr. Hubsher was the first doctor in our three year journey to correctly diagnose our teenager. He was patient and took a holistic approach to understanding our son. It has made a huge difference in our child's social, emotional and academic life. I have already recommended Dr. Hubsher to our school and two friends.

After his initial analysis, he said that my son needed hospitalization and sent us out the door. He did not call or arrange anything, state a diagnosis, suggest a therapy. Nothing. Collected the money and sent us away. The therapist my son had been seeing for over a month was shocked at this response and theorized that the doctor thought my son was too much of a liability to treat. Luckily his therapist was there to put this horrendous care in perspective and help me with my son.

Dr. Hubsner truly changed my life. He is the absolute best at listening to his patient's needs and helping them to overcome whatever is going on in their mind and body. I owe him everything.
