Dr. Melissa Verzura, DO

Excelent,i really like her. She is very sweet

This dr does not belong in a behavioral health facility. Most specially in a well respected hospital in the likes of Mt. Sinai. My visit was very upsetting. To begin with she was constantly glancing at her cell phone while I was speaking about my concerns. And then 10 mins into our consultation while I was still in the middle of explaining my concerns, she rudely signaled she’s done by getting up from her chair. After I inquired at the front desk how long appointments normally last and if I can changed drs, she showed up at where I was and aggressively told me that I was late for my appt and that I can go see all other drs that I want. All this with a very condescending and snotty demeanor. I left the office in tears; thinking to myself that this dr should be the one taking mental health medications at the very least. I asked for someone to call me regarding my negative experience but no one did. Lastly, I have to mention that all other practitioners in the facility are great.

I strongly advise against seeking treatment from this doctor. In my experience, she spent a mere five minutes addressing my situation when I was going through withdrawal from a medication. Instead of showing empathy or understanding, she blamed me for misplacing my meds and refused to assist me in obtaining refills or providing a note for school when I had to miss classes due to withdrawal symptoms. It's important to note that none of the medications I required were controlled substances, so there was no legal impediment to her helping me if she had been willing. This doctor's lack of effort and empathy is concerning, particularly when dealing with patients who have mental health issues. I would strongly recommend looking for a more compassionate and attentive healthcare provider.
