Dr. Melanie Helmken, MD

HELMKEN IS THE MOST INCOMPETENT INDIVIDUAL KNOWN TO MAN KIND. MIND YOU, ID DID NOT PUT THE MD BEHIND THE NAME BECAUE SHE IS A JOKE. AFTER SEVERAL MISDIAGNOSIS AND BEING TOLD MY HUSBAND AND I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO CONCEIVE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, I TRANSFERRED MY CARE TO ANOTHER GYN WHO WAS APPAULED BY HER MISDIAGNOSIS AND ANSWERS. I'M AN RN SO HER PLAN OF CARE WAS BOGUS TO ME. AFTER A MONTH IN WITH MY NEW GYN, HE DEVELOPED A TREATMENT PLAN THAT WAS BEST FOR ME AND NOW, MY HUSBAND AND I ARE EXPECTING OUR FIRST CHILD :). AFTER HELMKEN TOLD US IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE. SHE MADE US FEEL RUSHED AND LIKE OUR CONCERNS WAS NOT RELEVANT. HER BEDSIDE MANNER WAS DISRESPECTFUL AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. DO NOT SEE HELMKEN, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

I saw Dr Helmkem for my 13 week visit. Her office at the time did not tell me in advance that they didn’t have any ultrasound technicians that whole week. When I pressed about the importance of the neural tube scan; she reassured me multiple times that the genetic testing was more accurate. It is not. Read about it at Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic websites. Ultrasound is most accurate way of detecting that abnormality. She was fine making a decision about my pregnancy for me AND trying to convince me of something inaccurate related to the health testing. It’s offensive and unprofessional and all because they just didn’t have a scan as an option, as opposed to medical reasons. Do not go here: do not see her.

I am very concerned with the way my daughter is being treated. She is expecting her 2nd child, due any day, Dr Helmken is out of town. My daughter has been to ER this week, due to contractions and was given flipant, aloof answers today on phone by Triage nurse. I called my sister who is also a Nurse of more than 20 years and she was appalled by the response my daughter was given. I'm sure Dr. Helmken would not appreciate this treatment of her patient.

All the staff are extremely friendly! I'd recommend this office to others. The wait time in the waiting area is very quick. As to the wait in the exam room, isn't too bad depending on what you are there for. Overall, I would recommend to others.

I have complete confidence in Dr. Helmken’s knowledge and expertise. I would recommend her to any woman that wants an honest and caring doctor that cares about each of her patients.

I do not feel that I was encouraged to ask questions and the ones that I did were met with short, flippant answers. Statistics seemed to inform her decisions irregardless of my personal experience. I did not feel supported or respected in my health decisions and my questions about hormonal health were brushed aside as I'm not currently seeking pregnancy. After years of Dr. Helmken being my gynecologist, I will be looking for a new one.
