I was treated very poorly and abruptly by her while at a local hospital. She refused to speak with me one day of my stay due to misinformation I was given by the hospital staff about my treatment regimen and the next day during her rounds she began the conversation “I already read your notes from St. Luke’s about past trauma, I don’t care about that and am not here to talk about it.” The information she read was very personal and traumatic for me and for her to answer that way must indicate a lack of empathy for a mental health professional. I work in healthcare as an RN on med surg through the VA and would never approach a patient (particularly someone going through mental health issues) that way. Being certified and educated in a professional is one thing but having the skills and ability to articulate that to patients is another.

Highly Recommend - Changed My Son's Life
My son has been seeing Dr. Starner for over a year now. He's seen other doctors in the past, but none that were able to find the right combination of treatment and make him feel like himself again. Dr. Starner's communication is outstanding. She makes herself available to answer any questions we have and makes her patients a priority. My family couldn't recommend her more.

DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR
If I could give this woman a zero star rating I would. My daughter has not recovered from the way she was treated by Dr. Starner, and I am trying to help another family avoid the same pain. She told my daughter she could not treat her any longer in a TEXT, which is the most unprofessional thing I have ever heard., no matter what the reason. My daughter has struggled to find another doctor that's the right fit for a year now and I still cannot believe any psychiatrist would treat someone that way. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS WOMAN FOR YOUR CHILD.

This woman is amazing. If everyone had a doctor like her, things would be a lot different. She is caring, compassionate, and smart. I feel confident in her care. Doctors like her are hard to come by. I am so grateful I found her.
