Tkr seven months
Had a Tkr done 7 months ago. Not happy with it. The joint wakes me up every night with pain still after 7 months (every night). Dr. Manthe has told me there is nothing that they can do for me except pain management or more PT. To me that is just like saying let’s pass this on to someone else. And just to think I made this poor decision to ask for help.

Dr. Manthe Hip Replacement
I left the visit feeling that I was well informed about the hip replacement surgery, and that I was making the right decision to have the surgery. I felt comfortable being under her care. If I needed another surgery, I would definitely choose her to do it.

Dr. Manthe performed both of my hip replacements. In addition, she performed a knee replacement for my business partner. I am 18 months out from surgery #1 and 12 months out for hip #2. I could not be happier. It has been a miracle for me and has had a major impact on my quality of life. My partner is equally happy with his knee replacement. If needed, we both agree we would travel to her new location to have procedures done by her again. It has been a huge loss to our community to have her move.

I went to her with a broken wrist. By the time I realized it was not right and went to a wrist specialist. there was nothing that could be done. He said it was absolutely terrible and he doesn't understand how it happens. It is my dominate hand and I can no longer do a lot of activities that I used to enjoy.

Dr Manthe speaks with a commanding, passionate, firm resolve, which is comforting at 1st. 5 months hips post op, there were continued, significant problems including hip dislocation. I recognized she began to minimize the issues, contradict other Drs (from the hospital stay) and refusal to own up to her error in her approach with surgeries. Just as significant is the lack of urgency when things when wrong from both the staff and Manthe. Manthe didn't show up for her appointments 1 day. As we stood in line with 3 people to reschedule appointments, All 3 were complaining they had hip issues. One was 15 months post op. The Dr didn't show up, as she was out of town but didn't call & alert any of her patients. Perhaps Manthe has good results with a straight forward surgery. However, if there are any complications, she seems to lack the ability to address the complications, shows a lack of urgency & dodges the truth. 5 moths post op still struggling dealing w popping both hips/pain in 1.

My experience has not been positive. She is certainly competent and respected in her field but I’m not happy with the results 16 weeks out and my total knee replacement is not working properly. Knee is still stiff, painful, locks up and I can’t sleep beyond half hour at a time due to pain. I have done all the PT have appropriate flex (130 degrees ) and yet knee doesn’t work. When I wanted to get in to see her due to my continued suffering, I was told I couldn’t get an appointment for three weeks NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Dr Manthe is great, sometimes hard to get an appointment within 1-2 weeks. They will only see you for one body part per visit, so if your knee and hip both hurt they make you reschedule for second issue, so you wait . They say it’s due to time but I mentioned both at time of appointment scheduling, thinks it’s more of an insurance reimbursement issue to maximize their payments however the patient then pays multiple copays etc. Great Drs here but this practice is concerning

Not a wrist doctor but won’t tell you that. Dr. Manthe has operated on two, 2!, people who had a broken wrist that I know. She put a piece of metal in the wrist. Neither patient could regain movement in that hand. One of the two patients went to a different doctor to have a second surgery to remove the metal and now has full use of hand and wrist. The other patient still needs to have another surgery by a different doctor to fix the bad surgery by Dr. Manthe. Not a wrist doctor!

Dr. Manthe was excellent in asking all the right questions and listening to my answers. Dr. Manthe was able to locate the source of the issues, to explain and show the xrays and what they revealed and to make an assessment as to what was going on. Finally Dr. Manthe discussed the ways to improve the findings and suggest a number of courses of action. Dr. Manthe is clearly an excellent diagnostician, sets up a good rapport which then inspires confidence that your issue can be dealt with and impr

This is a very special practitioner. She prepares for you prior to her entering the exam room, and you know that all the paperwork, questions, and exams prior have been reviewed. She knew why I was there, introduced herself, and began investigating my issues immediately. I am a former healthcare executive over 30 years in orthopaedics, and I found her to be exceptional in every way, her staff was terrific as well. If only our current healthcare climate rewarded this kind of excellence.
