I went to the ER at Cone Hospital with severe back and chest pain. It was strange because it was in my mid to lower back and the pain was unlike anything I had ever experienced. The chest pain felt like I had swallowed a pot of scalding coffee. The last thing I remember is being hook up for an EKG and then waking up to my wife's smiling face in the ICU. I had emergency open heart surgery to repair a ruptured aneurysm in my thoracic aorta. I am told I was bleeding out and if not for the fast reaction time and diagnosis by Dr. Trifan I wouldn't be writing this review today.
