Dr Rauen surprised me when it came to the personal service! I answered my phone and talked directly with him instead of a clerk - how often does that happen in life today? And even in the office he will greet me with a firm handshake and fun conversation!

Cataract consultation
This was one of the most thorough exams I’ ve ever had. The depth and testing the staff did was impressive. The final consultation with Dr. Rauen was very informative and explained everything. No pressure or upsell.

Laser surgery
The entire visit was well coordinated, staff excellent and I was done in 40 minutes. Was told to expect 2-3 hours. He explained what to expect that day and vision would return to normal the following day. Great experience in the Ankeny office.

Takes time to explain

Dr. Rauen demonstrates sincere interest in the individual patient's unique needs. After reviewing the various tests and examines performed by the technicians he carefully, in layman's terms, explains what was revealed by the tests, he verbally evaluates them and then reviews patient options. I have 100% confidence in Dr. Rauen's expertise and totally trust his recommendations for future procedures because I know that he cares.
