Absolutely horrible
This doctor is absolutely awful. He is so arrogant and rude to his patients and treats them like they are nothing. I am so sad for my husband who came to him in good faith to receive help. I would never recommend him and I hope he stops practicing medicine because it seems like he hates it and hates his patients.

I have been a patient of Dr McLaren for several years and he has always been professional and kind. He has provided me with exceptional care and continues to take time to understand my needs. He always gives me clear explanations concerning any decisions made and listens to my concerns. He is extremely careful in his management of chronic pain.

As a bariatric patient that cannot take NSAIDS, I was referred to this doctor for chronic pain care by when my long-time doctor retired. This doctor has rejected prescribing anything without NSAIDS and has repeatedly tried to find ways to push different NSAIDS on me, both orally and topically, although contraindicated for my health history. When I refused NSAIDS, acetaminophen and Ice packs were the only other choice provided. However, he is always willing to suggest costly scans and back injections. He also hasn’t followed up on the things he said he would do, like coordinating with my primary doctor, or scheduling further procedures.

A pain specialist that doesn’t prescribe pain medications he instead told my mother she needed surgery and was all doom and gloom in that she may not make it through surgery. He has no bedside manner at all. An ego bigger than his concern for his patients.

I visited Dr. McLaren this summer because of a condition that has robbed me of the enjoyment of my life. I have been in intense pain for so long, I had forgotten what it felt like to be 'normal.' Dr. McLaren was recommended by my primary doctor and I had to drive an hour to see him. It was so worth the drive. Dr. McLaren is a very caring person, who also has a good sense of humor and made me feel relaxed. His office staff is very warm and friendly and worked with me to scheduling appointments th

Dr. McLaren is an awesome doctor, plain and simple. He doesn't sugar coat things, but is thorough in his explanations and caring. He is one of the few doctors in Helena that I totally respect his opinions and protocols. I have recommended my friends and family, as well as some distant military friends to see Dr. McLaren. He has truly improved my quality of life, something I have pained through for the last 23 years. Thank you, Dr. McLaren!
