Very comfortable with surgery on my hand/wrist. Dr. Drake is personable, well versed and communicated well with me. Highly recommend Dr Drake for this type of surgery.

open Carpal tunnel surgery
I first visited Dr Drake a year ago after my primary care Doctor ordered an EMG test. The test showed Carpal tunnel surgery was needed. At that time, the numbness in my fingers was intermittent so I decided to hold off until the numbness and dexterity got worse. Ten months later symptoms got worse, so I had Carpal tunnel surgery. I asked Dr Drake why he chooses open surgery instead of the less invasive method. He gave me a thorough explanation how this way allows him to evaluate each situation better and be assured of a complete release of the Carpal ligament.During the surgery we talked the entire time, and I watched as he explained every step. I never had any pain during or after and I now have full function of my hand with no numbness. The surgery itself was approximately ten minutes and after post-surgery instructions with my nurse, I drove myself home. Overall, the communication for appointments and all interactions with nurses and staff were friendly and efficient.

hand to hand combat
I read this guy is a top doc and surgeon and was recommended by KU top sports doctor. After treatment for Dupuytren's contracture my pinky finger only uncurls like 12 degrees from over 45 degrees bent. I am not happy to say the least and go to KU Med to let him know that even after putting the finger in a vice, I can't get it even close to straight. Drake acknowledges that the finger joint is frozen and says I should be glad I didn't break it loose. Drake with a cavalier tone says that's the way it turned out, call him again if I need any thing else. Charged me another $60 and ins like $185 for him to say basically so what. Because I cant straighten the finger the Duputren's has come back with in 3 months. So after spending close to $15K, half a year of my salary absolutely nothing has changed. I am seeing another doctor for surgery this time. This guy supposed to be one of our best. Filed complaint with board of healing arts and hope to sue to recover ins. and my payments.

Carpel Tunnel
After a through evaluation and explanation of carpel tunnel surgery, Dr. Drake answered all my questions and outpatient surgery was scheduled. Post surgery, for the first time in fourteen years, I no longer had numbing in the fingers on my right hand! Dr. Drake is an excellent physician and surgeon whom I would highly recommend. If you’ve suffered from carpel tunnel, don’t wait!

I was checked in promptly and was very impressed with the receptionist who was friendly and courteous…. In less than 10 minutes I was called back to the room by the assistant to the doctor who also was courteous and friendly…. The doctor was in the room in less than 10 minutes, asking questions and examining my hand which led to him explaining in detail the procedure that he will preform. He was very pleasant and I would definitely recommend him to anyone

Dr. Drake is kind and a great listener and because of that he was able to non surgically treat me and with in 2 weeks trigger finger symptoms were gone in 3 fingers and pain gone in both palms and base of one thumb. Very pleased to return to normal after a year of malfunctioning hands.
