This doctor should not be practicing his profession. stop accepting patients because he is very unprofessional, lack of empathy, he doesn’t care about the patient at all. He is just there to make money!!!! He is a nightmare for every patient. Discouraging his own patients! So frustrating!!!

Great experience!!
Greeted as i came in by the gentleman Danny, he had attentive & got me soon after i completed my paperwork, which i thot it was going to take long like other offices. Dr. Backman arrived on time and made it very clear on what my mom's health condition. This is the 3rd neurologist and very upsetting that it took a long time to change insurance and got a chance to meet with Dr. Backman and get our answers and concerns, cleared as possible. Thank you everyone, great staff!!

Desperate for $5
I've been reading the low reviews about the doctor and his office. The problem goes beyond his immediate staff! His billing department is quite desperate and incompetent. My mom has been receiving FINAL NOTICE bills in the mail for nearly a year, for $5! Payment was made but the biller says there was insufficient funds.. for $5!?! Out of principle we will not deal with the doctor's billing company anymore. Go ahead send my mom to collections.. I will not relent from telling the public how desperate the doctor and his Billing company are for $5 that they mishandled.

Impossible to make an appointment
Dr. Backman is actually very nice and we had good experience with him. But the front desk is impossible to reach. Called more than 15 times and could not get hold to anyone. Left voicemail but never got callback.

Do not come to this doctor. Martin J backman is rude, uneducated, lacks empathy and compassion. His entire staff are just like him. Never answer phone calls. They rush you. No respect. I went there for seizures, I was hooked on the EEG machine. I asked, would I experience any seizures. If I were to be hooked on the machine. They assured that i wouldn't. I had 2 seizures!!!! No one helped, no one comforted me, no one did anything. They called my husband in (he was in the waiting room) Doctor Martin didn't even sit down to speak with us. He saw me having seizures. Cold hearted man. The nurse/technician who administered the test. Told my husband, I should take the COVID shot. Because I was considered high risk. When we refused she shamed us. If you fear for your safety and well being do not come here.

Minnie
To get through to make an appointment is ridiculous. Then you get through and the lady on the other end gives you a hard time if you even have a reason to call. Believe me I would not be wasting my time without an authorization letter from my primary doctor. They never call you back and you have to show up in person to get any updates.

Just don’t…
While I was pleased with the quickness of Dr coming into exam room - that is thee only thing positive I have to share. He was short, abrasive, dismissive of my various questions, after asking him why he was ordering a particular test he never answered my question. I barely could get a word in, and he shushed me more than once. Once he was done, he said we’d discuss the results once they are available. He stood up and walked out. His “bedside manner”…. Well let’s say he needs to repeat the subject. I will not be going back, I am currently waiting on a new referral to a different neurologist. As for Dr Backman, would give him an F = as in FAIL!

Horrible Staff Named Gabriella
Gabriella should not be a receptionist. If you show up 15 minutes early to an appointment she will tell you that the appointment was already cancelled. Got here at 1:15 for a 1:30 appointment. Gabriella has the worst attitude and has no customer service skills. She should work at Castañedas.

Sadly, I can not give this doctor a high rating. Rather I feel it must be the lowest possible rating. I was referred to Dr Backman by my primary doctor. On my first visit to his office, I saw him for a total of about 3-5 minutes. Just long enough to introduce ourselves and for him to tell me before he does anything he wants to order a few tests, then he’ll proceed further. Tests were ordered and I was told that they would call me in 3-5 days when they get the results. Over a week goes by and I hear nothing from them so I ended up calling them. The nurse told me that the doctor wrote in my chart that tests “were ok” and I “should continue my treatment and return in 6 months”. I told her to stop. I’m not doing any treatments because none were ordered. All he did was order tests and said he’d get back to me. She then put me on hold saying she’ll talk to Dr Backman. She came back to the line a few minutes later and said that Dr Backman says I’m already taking med

His office help is terrible. They do not call you back in a timely manner and place you on hold and do not tell you I’m the middle of you conversation. They did not refill my prescription when requested by the pharmacy or my self. I have been taking the medication for quite sometime. Had to have my primary care physician refill for me.

First appointment. Friendly staff, warm, very helpful, good office environment, and I had no wait. Dr Backman was great to talk to, personable, quick witted, understood my concerns right away, reviewed my treatment history & details thoroughly, patiently. He explained the treatment plan very well, answered all my questions. His follow up, and the staff's, was excellent too. I highly recommend Dr. Backman.

This doctor may have saved my life when all the others (ENT, Primary, Cardiologist, etc) couldnt see past their own noses. I'ma 50 yo female w/50-69% blockage of my carotid artery. My labs all came back clean, super clean actually. No issues w/cholesterol, LDL, HDL, kidney or liver function. 2 ER trips and multiple specialists and they all missed even considering my carotid. And with a family history of stroke. WTH?! Backman is thorough, considerate, and professional. And a life saver!!!
