Dr. Markel Owens, MD

I am 34 weeks and I had some concerns and called my doctors office. They had advised me to go to the hospital emergency OB department. Upon arrival the nurses were very nice and listened. Once Dr. Owens got into the room she was rude and had horrible bed side manor. She insisted that I should have went to the regular emergency department and that since I was “freaked out” she would order a test but she felt it was unnecessary. She disregarded what I felt were symptoms and acted like I wasted her time. I got upset and told her that I just going to leave and I cannot believe she was talking to me like that and I would report her. The nurse kept apologizing and looked embarrassed. As I was leaving she came out of another patients room and said “call me a name again” and puffed her chest out. I cannot believe BJC employs PA’s that talk to there patients in this manor.

I am recently entering menopause and have a lot of questions. It is an uncomfortable time to say the least. Dr. Owens has helped me navigate through the process. I've been to other doctors and they aren't nearly as knowledgeable or as thoughtful as she is regarding the best treatment paths for the individual. I haven't had any trouble getting an appointment or getting answers to my questions. She is on top of it and I'm really happy to be her patient. I feel so much better and more myself than I have in years!

I am so glad my mother referred me to Dr. Owens. From scheduling and the actual exam I am totally pleased. Dr. Owens and her staff is wonderful and caring and she is very easy to talk with about anything. It's great Dr. Owens and associates have their own Imagining equipment so your not paying enormous amount of money at the hospital !

I haven't had a good experience with them throughout the duration of my pregnancy. If it wasn't the unnecessary repeated glucose test it was them not properly informing me of the dangers of a vbac. If it wasn't that it was the misdiagnosis of my child turning again while I was 38 weeks. If not that it was never being able to get in touch with anyone when I call or return a call. If not that it was charging paperwork fees for something that should be included in the original $400 I was charged.

The office staff is very unorganized!! Yet I put up with it because I love this DR. She is very professional and listens closely instead of rushing appointments like other doctors. Best OBGYN I've had!!!!

This whole office is incompetent. I spent 2+ hours on the phone today because they claimed I had a bill in collections from over a year ago. Turns out that the communication between the office and their (numerous) billing companies is practically nonexistent. During labor, the doctor popped my water without saying a word to me. Also, I had to wait for a doctor to show up for the delivery and it wasn't even my doctor. I am definitely going to find a new doctor office after today.
