Dr. Yates has did neck, hand, shoulder and knee surgery on me. He always draw a picture to explain what he will do in surgery. He has always shown respect to me and my family. I am a Black Woman who feel safe with his knowledge and professionalism. I have had 10 or more surgeries with the Dr. that I will only trust to do my bone surgeries. When Dr. Yates ever retire, I will definitely cry and be upset to find another Dr.

Dr. Yates was extremely late to the appointment. Over an hour. He asked if me and my partner were homeless due to the fact I had my service dog with me. I have a complex medical history and he degraded me for that. I have no idea how this man received his medical degree. We left the appointment early- which was not documented -and even the nurses seemed to understand why we left so soon. He told me that genetic disc degeneration would get better in time. Then proceeded to give me a joint injection. HORRIBLE Doctor.

New patient
Heart breaking made me cry. Cone doctor’s that are white and from another country don’t like black Americans. They are rule and disrespectful to black Americans. Dr Yates didn’t get to know me. He had his feeling already made up when he found out I was black. He wrote notes about me that was not the truth. He didn’t get to know who I was and about. He judged me from the color of my skin. I had to walk out of his office. This is the second time I had to do this with Cone doctors. I am hurt, disappointed and scared. He wrote on my paperwork I was a manager dealing with clothes at some store. I was a department Manager for Walmart over furniture, housewares, small appliances plus bed and bath and rugs and lamps and picture frames. He wrote I stay in High Point and I don’t I stay in Archdale. I let him do the talking. The only thing he seen on my files is black American and he went from there. I wish he would had called me and said he didn’t want to see me. He wasted my time. I am in pain.

Dr.Yates is a amazing surgeon. He did my first neck surgery in 2005 where he remove a bone from my hip and fused it in my neck he did tell me that most likely in 10 yrs I would need a plate in my neck 13 yrs later I was still pain free and was doing great until I was in a accident where I was hit from the behind and cause my neck to give me trouble. But thanks to Dr Yates I'm back to my self and pain free. He has the best bed side manner and I wouldn't trust any other orthopedic. He is the best and gave me my life back more then once. God Bless Dr Yates

I am so fortunate to have been accepted as a new patient of Dr. Yates. He has a sterling reputation in this area both as a clinician and as a surgeon. Last weekend when I ended up in the ER with what was a sudden attack of leg spasms and hip pain, I was asked who my orthopedic doctor was. When I replied, "Mark Yates," the ER physician said, "You're in good hands. He'll figure it out. He always does." I saw Dr. Yates today and he had figured it out. I trust him completely.

Dr. Yates operated on my dad's hip and left him in worse condition than before the surgery. He is dismissive and literally laughed when my dad told him about his hip slipping out of place. Once he gained his composure, he told my father "You'll be fine just give it some time to heal." My dad was forced to return to nursing care, and his hip had to be operated on again to give it "time to heal" properly as Dr. Yates put it. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone especially an older person.

He went in and fixed my herniated disc with (ahem) surgical precision...tiny incision, quick clean recovery.
