I had carpal tunnel surgery with some difficulties that needed attention. Despite contacting the office, I did not get a returned call for two weeks until I called again. I needed physical therapy, and then I revisited his office. Although Dr. Winston said he would follow up with me, he did not. I still have some issues after almost 1 year post-surgery.

Poor Patient Care and follow up
Dr Winston and Dr Martin left me with nerve damage after performing unnecessary surgeries (20) I was ultimately diagnosed and treated for an autoimmune disease. I never needed surgery and surgery only made the disease worse. Dr Winston’s office even canceled a nerve function test and never notified me after I waited for 2 months to determine why the nerve was damaged. When I expressed that was unprofessional I was fired as a patient. So to recap Dr Winston performed unnecessary surgery leading to nerve damage, cancelled a procedure to determine the cause of nerve damage, and the fired me as a patient.

Outstanding clinician
Dr Winston is a caring, compassionate individual. His attention to detail and ability to provide detail and oversight is remarkable. He is very much attuned to an individual patient’s needs and concerns. Unlike many surgeons he is equally concerned about the post-surgical process and keeps a close eye on all elements of recovery.

My hand doc!
I have seen Dr. Winston several times for pain in my thumb and hand, and I highly recommend him. He is kind, gentle and knowledgeable. I am somewhat needle phobic; yet, his demeanor is calming. He takes his time with me and listens well. Each time I get steroid injections, I wish I had gone sooner because they really aren't as painful as I had imagined, and I get months of relief. I appreciate the fact that the physicians at Kansas City Orthopedic Alliance specialize on particular body parts. Dr. Winston is a great hand doc.
