Flippant, rude, arrogant person disguised as a DR!
I'm the lady that likes everyone, buys chocolates for my doctors and nurses, cries because I'm thankful for my doctor's great care. But when my dear oncologist moved and THIS man was hired as an interim, EVERYTHING changed. I cannot believe how he talks to me, his choice of uncaring, cold, 'to the point' words that take away your hope, spoke so flippantly I was numb. My last appointment was July 2024, said there was nothing more he could do for me. Period. When I asked what to do now about a referral or something, he made that telephone pose using your pinky and thumb to your ear and mouth, and told me to get on the phone. My radiation oncologist sent my referral in to UofL's James Brown Cancer Ctr, I met my NEW oncologist 2 days ago and am ecstatic about his game plan! His 5-star optimism has blown me away, I have a new lease on life! I'm so glad to no longer be under Velleck's care.

After surviving an initial round of cancer, you never want to hear that your cancer has returned, much less that it returned in an aggressive form. Dr. Vellek let me know from the start what the battle would be, and set a course of treatment to give me my best chance at survival. I appreciate his direct approach and his frankness about my disease progression. It may not always be the news I hoped for, but each time he has always been ready for the next step. He is an exceptional Physician: experienced, intelligent, dedicated, caring and compassionate. I have always been able to count on him and his nurse Alyssa, to answer my questions in a timely manner, particularly those outside of office visits. He understands me as a person, and I am thankful, and grateful for his care.

All of the staff members were pleasant and professional however Dr. Vellek was rude during my entire very rushed visit which was a referral by my EXCELLENT PC doctor of 20+ years. The nurse kept apologizing for his rude behavior (she was having problems with him too) and the visit was very hurried. He insulted my PC Doctor by saying that if his office was open at the time he would chew him out for the referral. He rudely dismissed my concerns and sent me on my way. I didn't give up and my cancer diagnosis came a few months later from a different medical facility and I am currently undergoing treatment. I don't know if he was in a particularly bad mood that early morning or is he is always that way. I have NEVER had a bad experience with a physician before this and I am a senior. This is my first (and hopefully last) negative review of a doctor

After my mother’s visit we feel if you don’t have anything nice to say about someone, don’t say anything at all. Just pray for them. You will then set your heart and soul at ease. God did shine through and we got a great report! The nurses, and other staff members was outstanding! Thank you, and God Bless!

Mark treated me for Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2012 and then again 14 months later when I relapsed. I am now cancer free. I credit Mark and his nurse Gay for saving my life. I consider them both friends of mine after the care they showed me even on post-cancer follow up visits.

He was rude and said my case was boring. He made me feel like there was no reason for me to be there. I didn't ask for the appointment but my primary physician had a concern. He ran some tests and then told me he hoped to see me never. That would be too soon for me.

This is the most rude, condescending man we have ever met. He does a woopty do thing in the air with his finger like who cares! He doesn't give you a chance to speak because he believes he knows everything. He told me he didn't want to treat me. Seriously? I don't want him to treat me either after 5 visits of being mentally abused. He gave me another appointment but I'm not going back to him! I'm going to someone who's smart AND human!!!

This man has humiliated me & made sure I feel terrible about my recovery. He berated me despite my miraculous remission and told me the pain and lethargy associated with Leukemia was due to my lying in bed all the time. He is an elite, out of touch clinician with a massive ego.
