Reverse shoulder replacement
Dr. Sprague was excellent. I was very nervous about having a reverse shoulder replacement, but Dr. Sprague put me at ease explaining everything and answered all my questions. The surgery went off without a hitch and he even stopped off to check on me and tell me what he found before I went home. The follow up Nurse was great and on top of everything and I've had a great recovery. Thank you, Dr. Sprague and all your wonderful staff.

Shoulder Surgery, pre and post
Every care member in Dr Sprague's group is top notch. They are knowledgeable and very caring. I even received several calls from the Dr. post surgery to check on me and ensure I was doing what I was supposed to during recovery.

I give him the highest grade! He answered all of my questions, showed me my MRI, described the injury, described thoroughly the options for treatment, was supportive and very kind. Unlike many physicians, he gave me all the time I needed. I wish there were more Dr. Sprague's in the world!

We are new to the area and had no previous experience with Dr. Sprague or the Berkshire Orthopedic Associates. My shoulder condition was a chronic situation from years of abuse that I had seen other surgeons in the Boston area previously. The difference between the two practices was like night and day. Dr. Sprague is by far the better surgeon for several reasons. He took the time to listen, observe, examine and wanted to try less invasive treatments first. When injections and physical therapy proved ineffective we discussed surgical options. He made a clear and understandable presentation of the procedure and was more than willing to listen to my questions and provide reassuring answers. Surgery went amazingly well with minimal pain afterwards. I took Advil for a couple of days and then didn't even need that by the third day. Shoulder surgery has a long recuperation period but my pain level has always been very tolerable and follow up has been excellent. Highly recommend this doctor.

I would like to leave first hand knowledge of my experience when I broke my shoulder, in a skiing accident, which was a significant injury. My anxiety at the thought of surgery was at an all time high. Dr. Sprague was patient, kind and compassionate, taking the time to answer all my questions that day as well as after surgery. It is one yr later and the results are amazing, I have 98% of my flexibility back. He is the BEST!!!!! He put me back together and on the slopes again. So grateful!!!!!!

Very disappointed with BOA. I've seen Dr Sprague for many years with issues related to knee pain/osteoarthritis. Last visit I received a cortisone injection for knee pain. I was told -"if when in pain call for an injection". The problem is- I have to wait 6 to 8 weeks to see Dr Sprague or his PA. I'm going to Boston/ New England Baptist. I can schedule an appointment much quicker. Something is very wrong with the medical system in Pittsfield. Certainly the staff at BOA is vastly understaffed.
