Dr. Mark McFerran, MD

Dr. McFerran did a fantastic job with my knee replacement. A consult with a surgeon a few years ago in California expressed concern with some other issues such as chronic lymphedema. Dr. McFerran was very direct, concise and confident that he could help. The surgery was perfect, no complications and I will now have much better quality of life as a result.I consider myself fortunate to have him as my surgeon-even more so now that he is retiring. He does great work and I couldn’t be happier!

Dr McFerrin, is a very easy person to talk to. He listens to his patients and advises as necessary. He and his staff are professionals. What more can I say?I do recommend OCR and Dr McFerrin and staff. I give them 5 STARS.

I had read many reviews and his name came up time and time again for doing an awesome job in the replacement of hips. My goal was to be back at work in 2 weeks and I achieved that goal. Very knowledgeable with a good bedside manner. Nice guy. He'll also be doing my second hip which I will be having done in 4 weeks time.... I look forward to living with no pain... If you need a good doctor, Doctor McFerrin is it. Glad I trusted the reviews.

Dr. McFerran is a down to earth doctor working to solve my problem. He is very up front and I really appreciate that.

Found him to be no nonsense and very efficient. He explained to me the MRI results that he had on the screen, and examined my knee. Told me I would be in the hospital overnight. Answered my questions.

Dr. McFerran was recommended by my RN daughter, who worked on the ortho floor of our regional hospital when I needed a total knee replacement. Dr. McFerran is a no-nonsense and yet caring doctor, and I have received excellent care from him 3 times so far.

Yesterday was my 1st visit. Dr McFerron answer all my questions and explained the issues with my knee and my MRI thoroughly. I left feeling extremely comfortable about having my knee operated on by him. He is very knowledgeable, kind, caring and a brilliant doctor. So happy I he is my doctor.

Dr. McFerran was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful throughout our visit. Explained in detail what was going on with my knee and his suggested course of action. I had a great experience with him and would recommend him to anyone who is in need of care. If needed, I would certainly request him again.

If you want an experienced doctor that does your pre-op, operation, and post-op the right way, then you can’t go wrong with Dr McFerran. I would personally choose him again if needed. He’s honest and realistic. He won’t waste your money by providing unnecessary procedures or care. If you follow his plan of care, you won’t regret it.

I had both Hips replaced and my down time was minimal. I’m back to work no restrictions and getting around great Dr. McFerran is amazing surgeon He’s skilled & knowledgeable also communicates clearly what to expect before & after surgery

Based on my experience with Dr. McFarren, I will never be back. He spent maybe 5 minutes (tops) in the room during the visit. The appointment felt VERY rushed. I spent more time talking to the nurses/receptionist than I did with the doctor. I didn't feel cared for whatsoever. He made assumptions about me without asking any questions and seemed like he didn't even care. He assumed that he knew everything about my situation despite having no information and showing no care in asking questions. He literally told me to just "figure it out", and despite two other orthopedic surgeons telling me I need surgery to fix a chronic issue, he wanted to wait until the issue got so bad that I can no longer walk or until I'm inevitably injured. He also is very judgmental regarding weight. This was the worst doctor experience I've ever had. He sent me home in tears. I cannot recommend anyone go to this doctor. If you want someone who cares about patients, this is not the doctor for you.

I’ve had a hip replacement done by this doctor. It could not have gone better. Hardly any pain after surgery, and I was able to get around with no problems within an hour after surgery. I went home the next morning. I would recommend this surgeon in a heartbeat.

As much as it pains me to leave a review like this because doctors take serious oaths and work incredibly hard to be in the position Dr. McFerran’s title holds as Orthopedic Surgeon, I feel strongly that I must write it in hopes that other people do not feel alone when they have the same experience. Dr. McFerran could not have spent any less time in the room with his patient. It was like he was about to go on vacation and was clocking out for the day. He barely looked at the MRI, didn’t know about the significant occurrence that led to the injury (all in chart - so he didn’t read it) AND ASKED “Why didn’t you tell me that?” Ummm really? Isn’t that your job to know why we are there?, used obnoxious and absurd assumptions about the patient’s lifestyle without knowing anything about what the patient has been through physically, emotionally, or mentally. It really is so unfortunate that doctors in this day in time can exist with this kind of egotistical and misogynistic attitude.

If you want a Doc that will spend less than 2 minutes with you, not look you in the eye and blame you injury on being a female this is him! I had a significant trauma to my knee and body and he didn’t care even though I had over 10 weeks physical therapy. Lazy and did not care about me as a human!!!!

Dr. McFerran replaced both of my arthritic hips within 3 months, he is a fabulous surgeon with a fantastic bedside manner. He asks questions to familiarize himself with the potential cause of pain and gives helpful responses. His staff was very helpful, from the first appointment until the last follow-up visit, it was like a concierge service moving from department to department to successfully understand the process. Thank you Dr. McFerran!
