Exceptional Care
The nurses are great with big personalities and once you're on a topic that Dr. Kopel likes she's a whirlwind of information. I highly recommend Hartland Family Physicians.

I just called for an appt for an earache. They have no available appointments today or tomorrow, and can't do a phone visit because they wouldn't be able to see in my ear. Apparently I need to just find a new doctor that can get me in when I am in pain in a reasonable time frame.

Dr. Mark Kopel was very accessible throughout the COVID crisis. When the office was closed, he made himself available by virtual "tel-med" appointments. He helped my partner and I through multiple serious issues and kept us out of the hospital. After the office reopened, I had excruciating sciatica pain which prohibited me from making it into his office. Dr. Kopel used a tel-med appointment and was able to prescribe medication that helped me through it. He asks questions which clearly shows he is referencing the latest records/notes to diagnose your condition. He doesn't push medication but makes it accessible when needed. I really appreciate that.

Was my primary for a long time (years) and as long as your healthy he is nice and funny. But when I had an emergency and needed care he was uncaring and unhelpful when I needed a referral so surgery. I called the office and spoke to dr Kopel directly and said I was on the floor! Still no help. He was rude and I was told I had to follow procedure to get the referral. I ended up going into emergency room and having emergency surgery on a Saturday! Surgeon said it couldn’t wait! He never even followed up to see if I was ok or what happened. I was never so shocked or disappointed. I have a new Dr now.

I have got to tell you he is a very good doctor, very kind, professional and spends a lot of time with me as a patient answering an questions or concerns I have. If I've ever needed him to call me he's done a good job at that as well. Somewhat skeptical on pain issues, the last time he took the time to confirm I was in pain by doing a through physical exam and prescribed the appropriate drug, CYA I guess. Highly recommend him, staff had been a bit rude a times but corrected long ago.

I have used Dr. Kopel as my family doctor for over a decade and he has always been willing to spend the time with me to determine the best way to proceed on treatments and my healthcare needs. He answers all my questions and listens to my suggestions. When I need to talk with him from home, he always returns my calls, even though it may be as late as 7 p.m., a couple hours after normal closing time. Some might look at this as a negative, but I can't expect him to jump away from patients.

The receptionist was rude and condescending on the phone. I was taken aback by how rude the doctor was. He responded to personal text messages, not once- but twice!- during the appointment. He came across as challenging, confrontational, unsympathetic, cold, flippant, unprofessional, and somehow a lovely combination of arrogant and unknowledgeable. The nurse couldn't handle my husband's anxiety with having blood drawn, and stormed out for another nurse to deal with him.
