Impatient, definitely avoid !!
Horrible, avoid Dr. Itzkowitz at all costs. I never write online reviews or have had a bad experience with a dr. before. I am taking the time to write this review in a hope to avoid others from having this experience. He is VERY impatient, never listens to you at all. He made me feel like it was a burden for him to be listening to my concerns. The only thing on his mind was to finish the session and get out of the room as soon as possible. For my general annual checkup, he ordered tons of blood work, which the next dr. at the same facility looked and said it was unnecessary. He should have never been a dr. to begin with.

Review of one Appt
The MA was calming friendly and professional. Dr Itzkowitz knocked on the door and entered the room and without a greeting immediately said “I am running behind, I’m still with my 10;00 am patient and it’s 11:00. You can leave if you want too. I will see you but I am running about 45 minutes behind.” Prior to him entering the room my BP was 122/72. I waited the 45 minutes listening to audible to calm my self from the first episode. Dr Itzkowitz entered the room and the patient prior to me left so he was able to see me now. After a discussion about my renal blood work and CBC that he argued I did not have done, whether I should see a urologist for a cyst on my R kidney, cloudy urine specimen and my visit with the cardiologist, my blood pressure was 144-154 systolic and 84 diastolic. I explained to him that my BP was normal until I experienced these interactions with him. That I have a very labile BP and it responds to my level of anxiety. This was the worst appointment I’ve experience.

Good person. But not a good Doctor!
Dr. Itzkowitz is noticeably a nerves Doctor. He recommends multiple office visit with a long list of routine bloodwork, EKG, Cat scan, x ray followed by recommendation for specialist. He is extremely afraid of germs to the point that makes the patient uncomfortable. He put two pears of surgical gloves when he examines the patient (something that I have never seen before). He is a somehow rude with paint by telling (ordering) them to turn their face to the other side when he is examining the paint, because he doesn’t want to be that close to the paint’s face. He is glued to his computer. I usually don’t like to change doctors but, I believe my health has been affected negatively by visiting him.

Awkward
The doctor was 20 minutes late to the appointment. Was rude and couldn't get far enough away from me when I said I didn't want the covid vaccine. We made me move further from him after he found out I wouldn't take it and then tried to guilt me into getting it. He wouldn't let me talk during the New Patient visit. He was too worried about checking all the boxes for his questions and wouldn't let me get a word in about why I was really there. All he did was refer me to other doctors.

I saw Dr Itzkowitz and thought he was phenomenal- detail oriented and doesnt miss a thing. Unfortunately we ARE in the modern world where doctors MUST type and use the computer, but that works to the patient's advantage in the end. He's the best in my opinion; I send my entire family to him

Yes, Dr. Itzkowitz consults his computer and yes, he needs to process the information without interruption. It was disconcerting during my first visit. Through the second and third I watched. He READS the patients records. God love this man who listened/listens to my son, a 44-year-old man with Downs. During our last visit I was convinced he had pneumonia — again. He ordered X-rays and gave him an EKG. Both were problematic and he admitted him.

This doctor needs retraining. He needs to go through MGH's training where doctors are taught to listen to their patients as the wisest doctors know - the patient gives you the diagnosis. I've never up to now had a doctor so glued to his computer telling me 8 times to stop talking as he typed away. Did I get to ask him about my high cholesteral? No. stop talking. Did I get to ask him about anything? No, stop talking. And I have a familial tremor with my neck. He said "keep your head still".
