Helpful second opinion
We sought out Dr. Halstead from recommendations from our athletic trainer and other parents in our area regarding a sports injury. Dr. Halstead was very professional and explained in much greater detail and with a more thorough examination than the first physician we visited. We could easily understand the problem as he spoke to us without using a bunch of medical jargon. We felt confident with the treatment plan and are thankful for the recommendations of others to come see Dr. Halstead for his opinion and we value his expertise.

"If zero stars were an option"... I second the motion! As a former evaluator for the Baldrige Excellence in Healthcare organization, I have evaluated 10,000's of physicians and medical practices across our country from over 15 years, in all my years I have never experienced such poor bedside manner from a physician. As a patient I found Dr. Halstead to needlessly obstinate, arrogant, pompous, and dismissive, he started the appointment with a presupposed opinion flippantly dismissing pain during the physical evaluation, holding to what he called "my problem" prior to any imaging diagnostic actions t, which contradicted past medical diagnosis, MRIs, X-rays by other Physicians in his same practice! When simply asked to reference the patient record, he became uncooperative and defensive and attempted to dismiss the efficacy of my physical therapy which again was prescribed by another physician in the group I recommend He receive patient centered care training as specified by ACP.

Condescending and disrespectful
I had an appointment with Halstead today where he continuously complained about not having x-rays to look at (which I was never told I needed to have with me), was rude and condescending to not only me but also to my 12 y/o son. I get that the medical field can be frustrating, I’m a nurse. I’m type A, I’m always prepared, my son is a well behaved and respectful kid. When we left that office my son asked if we could find a different doctor. My 12 y/o picked up on it! My daughter (10y/o) was with us and responded to my son saying, “yeah, why was he so rude?” Terrible experience. Terrible bedside manor. P.s. this is the first review I’ve ever left for ANYTHING.

If zero stars were an option...
I do not remember how we found Dr. Halstead, but we saw him only once. We visited with my daughter to get her evaluated for pain related to her scoliosis and a possible PARS injury. I have to agree with what some others have said. He was extremely ARROGANT and DISMISSIVE. He absolutely had to make it known that he was the expert and we were not. He stopped just short of an eye roll when we asked our questions. We left disgusted, and sought treatment with a different doctor. Good doctors don't feel the need to shove their expertise in your face. Needless to say, we do not recommend him.

He was compassionate and down to earth. A Dr. you can be confident knows what he's doing and actually cares about his patients. He did a very good job of patiently reviewing and explaining everything.

We first saw Dr. Halstead after my son sustained an ankle injury last fall, and again this week after my daughter fractured her wrist. I felt really confident in his knowledge and care for each of my children. He has a great, positive manner with kids and parents alike and gave us very timely service. I hope we don't have any more injuries, but if we do, we will definitely go to Dr. Halstead!

Dr. Halstead was very knowledgeable and helpful in treating my son's post concussion symptoms. We never felt rushed in our appointments and he encouraged status updates via email, answered all my questions and responded promptly. Several people told me Dr. Halstead was the best person to see for concussions in St. Louis and they were right!

Dr. Halstead took the time to not only listen completely but explained the problem in terms that were easy to understand. Great bedside manner. My daughter even understood everything he said.

Our 14 year old son was experiencing back pain. We visited Dr. Halstead after trying Chiropractic treatments that did not resolve the issue. Dr. Halstead ordered X-rays and later an MRI which identified the issue as a PARS stress fracture. We had our son rest for the first month as recommended and he went to physical therapy during the second and third month. Our son is in his final week of physical therapy and he's feeling great - no more back pain!

My daughter had a concussion from High School sports and Dr. Halstead was suggested by the school athletic trainer. He was recommended for his expertise and the ability to work with the HS trainer. I could not get out of that examining room quick enough. The MOST arrogant condescending man I have ever met. After speaking with other parents on the team that dealt with him as well, we all had the same negative experience. My daughter was completely uncomfortable with him.
