I was in a motorcycle accident in 2008. My left tibia shattered when I T-boned a car at 60 miles an hour on my Harley Davidson. Many different surgeons at HCMC were ready to amputate from the knee down. After my 89 day induced coma from brain hemorrhage I woke up to Dr. Dahl and Shannon- his nurse practitioner, asking me if I wanted to save my left leg from amputation. He put on some fixators and he was able to grow and limb lengthen my tibia back down to my ankle over a 4 year period. My last surgery was a complete knee replacement, he was able to straighten and match the exact length of my other leg. Today I walk and still do my hardwood floor trade with very minimal pain. I am so grateful and thankful that Dr. Mark Dahl has completely changed my life, made so I can climb mountains, don't have to put a prosthetic leg on daily, and inspired me to get sober. He truly is a miracle worker and changed my life for the better. Ps. love you, thank you very much Dr. Dahl- God bless you!

I was born with fibular hemimelia and Dr. Dahl treated my legs for the first 18 years of my life. Having gone through several procedures and limb-lengthening surgeries, I can truly say this man has changed my life forever. I am able to run, jump, walk, and exercise as I please. Not only is he a fantastic surgeon, but the genuine care he has for his patients is unparalleled. His impact on my life is unbelievable. Highly recommend Dr. Dahl!

I've had 3 total knees and he took care of my crushed talus when other Hosford Sturgis surgeons turned me away from my accident. He's an amazing surgeon and truly cares about my needs. Thx Dr. Dahl!!!!

I have worked with Dr Dahl as an anesthesiologist for 20 yrs. He has performed the most complicated surgeries, always emphasizing his patients best interests first. A true man of integrity. Therefore, when my knees began to fail early,I went to him.Knees to gone for ACL. Tibial Osteotomies kept me going for 12 more years. After 40 yrs of loose damaged knees, I needed replacements. He did his usual magic 5 yrs ago, I hike 10+ miles, golf and carry.Mark saved me!!!

So I go to see Dr. Dahl about my chronic knee damage brought on by a congenital condition in my legs. “Best in the state” I was told. After ordering MRI’s, X-Rays, and injection shots for a month (that didn’t work as my knees were too damaged), and saw there was nothing left to do, he decided to address my weight. He says “you had WLS and lost ONLY 100 pounds?! That’s crazy!” My knees were damaged from childhood, Mr. Best in State. Never saw him again...

I have been a patient of his for many years. I have had many procedures, including, femur and tibia lengthening, distal femoral osteotomy, subtalar fusion, and Achilles tenotomy. Dr. Dahl is the best of the best.

Dr. Mark Dahl is unsurpassed in his surgical skills and is also a compassionate thoughtful person. My experience with him started as an emergency surgery after an infection started in a ankle fracture repair and spread throughout my leg and body. His confidence in his ability and his straight talk about my grave condition helped me get through this horrible event. I have seen him for a simple knee replacement and a complicated non union of previous fracture repair. I will always recommend him.

Unfortunately, my leg lengthening procedure was not a success whatsoever. Dr. Dahl should have made known the potential complications better. Besides the leg lengthening not effective, the bone growth was not monitored well, so now I have a larger mass just above the knee area with a lot of discomfort. Also, I developed a bulging muscle from when the transceiver was placed under the skin. That hernia required an additional surgery and may require another surgery. Ask a lot of questions.

This was one of the worst experiences ever! Took his advice to develop a physical therapy plan to my physical therapist. Turns out his advice would have resulted in either a broken foot or a hyper extended knee. Being told to suck it up and just get through it is not prudent medical advice. I would never recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Dahl is the greatest Doctor/surgeon that I have gone to in the 17 years I've been using orthopedic Dr.'s. He is willing to take on the most complex surgeries that other Dr.'s won't - and with much confidence. He is extremely compassionate and is very kind. He is able to juggle a very demanding schedule and career amazingly well. He treats all of those that work with/for him with incredible patience and kindness. He is always on time, but doesn't rush me. He has improved my life greatly.

Dr. Dahl took the time to get to know our son and us as people. During our first visit, he introduced us to another family there for fibular hemimelia and stayed to talk. His knowledge and dedication is apparent!!!
