A truly caring doctor
I had been hospitalized at Sibley Memorial Hospital for 4 days. After numerous tests leaving the medical team scratching their heads and prescribing antibiotics without knowing for what, I met Dr. Abbruzzese after requesting an Infectious Disease specialist to consult on my situation. Dr Abbruzzese was very thorough in reviewing my lab results and impressively knowledgeable about infections, antibiotics and its impact on gut health. He was able to consolidate all my test results and medical history clues together, and for the first time while staying at the hospital, I was able to get an answer to what was causing my symptoms. He is calm, patient with questions, provides clear explanations, and has impeccable bedside manner. I felt like I was speaking with a doctor and friend who truly cares.

Saved my Grandmother
As the other doctors were scratching their heads, Dr A said walk with me as we were walking down the hall he was asking me about my Grandmother who at the time was 77 years old. All of the sudden he says I know what is wrong and we ran back to the room my grandmother had surgery that night and lived another 22 years. I will always be thankful to him for that.

There is no finer doctor nor gentleman than Dr, Abbruzzese. I was under his care for a life-threatening infection which he turned around as quickly as he could. He is clear with patients, respectful of the all-important nursing team, remarkably caring, and highly collegial.

I have been under Dr. Abruzzese's care for over 20 years. In the last 5 years I have been unable to have a phone call returned. I am told I can't make an appt. without his approval and phone messages are never returned. I still think he is a wonderful doctor, but this is a very sad way to treat patients.

Dr Abbruzzese is a lifeline for us! His warmth and humor have sustained us through very difficult times but he can cut to the heart of an issue and demand appropriate action and treatment from others, our trust if him is unparalleled compared to anyone else we have ever encountered. His knowledge is deep and comprehensive, so he is often the glue that pulls all of the pieces of our complex situation together. We are so deeply grateful to him (and we like him a lot too!??)

I met Dr. Abbruzzese when I was in Sibley Memorial Hospital for three nights. He was a consulting doctor for a possible infection. I found him personable, knowledgeable, and kind with a good sense of humor. He visited me every morning to check on me. He explained things well about what I was being treated for and how long it will take to resolve itself. I liked his personal approach, his manner, and his willingness to stay and talk a while.
