Because Dr. Shams did not understand the chronic illness that I have been experiencing for the last 6 years, she dismissed me and told me to stop taking the medication that I had been prescribed by a previous provider. I've seen providers in 3 states and several cities because we are military and move a lot. I have never seen a provider more dismissive. She did not review my records prior to my visit. I told her that I have previously had the testing done that she ordered and what the results would be and she practically told me to deal with it and the other doctors didn't know what they were talking to.

Dr. Shams is amazing. Had allergy issues that other doctors had a hard time diagnosing. Dr. Shams listened really well to what I was said and came up with a treatment plan that worked. She knows her stuff! My husband had the same experience. Really glad we found her.

I saw Dr Shams about six months ago for an asthma problem. Her office gave be a breathing test. When Dr Shams came in the room she said "who sent you here". You don't have asthma. I can't do anything for you. I went to another Allergy/Asthma doctor and found out that I have a Milk allergy. I have been off milk/dairy for about 2 weeks and all my symptoms have disappeared. No more chest congestion and runny nose. I was very upset with her attitude.

I wanted to write this positive review of Dr. Shams. I understand the negative reviews posted as Dr. Shams can have a direct, no nonsense delivery style. However, I found her highly compassionate, caring, kind, and willing to spend time answering questions and educating me. I felt she was "on my team" as a doctor to get to the bottom of my scary symptoms. I found her responsive and honest. Be ready for a direct communication style, and an excellent physician who really cares and knows her stuff.

Her bedside manner is severely lacking. She got upset with me that another doctor prescribed an OTC on top of her prescriptions and continued to rant how that medication shouldn't be available OTC. When she asks questions she cuts you off before you can answer. Heaven forbid bring up anything you have personally researched. I googled ways to manage my symptoms at home in addition to the medication. My ideas were brushed off as irrelevant. I've left her office twice feeling deflated. No more!

Dr. Sham treated me with compassion and understanding. She explained everything I didn't understand even staying late after office hours. It was so refreshing to have someone treat me like a person and not just another patient. She also is taking every precaution by ordering a few more tests and seeing me again.

Dr. Shams' bed side manner is absolutely horrible and leaves very little to be desired. For starters she walked into our examination room an hour and a half late. She did not apologize for her lateness or at the very least she didn't even introduce herself to me or my child. When she began firing off questions she very rudely asked why are you here as if we just showed up to an appointment without just cause. She was very rude, unprofessional and I would never recommend her to anyone.
