Awesome Doctor

macular degeneration
Dr Mathai explains every procedure very carefully. She readily replies to any messages I leave for her. She's a lovely person who takes the time to make you feel well cared for ... plus, she really knows her stuff! I feel I'm in very capable hands.

Follow-up Visit
The staff was professional, knowledgeable, and flexible as I was late to my appointment. Dr. Mathai was able to do a thorough exam to follow up on a previous ocular concern. She also explained things in understandable terms and asked good questions. The office was clean, orderly, and calming.

True Professional
I experienced warm and professional service from the time I called to make an appointment and throughout my entire visit. Dr. Mathai and her staff are wonderful.I called the office on a Friday afternoon to make an appointment for what I thought was a minor eye issue. Her staff (Carla) quickly and calmly identified that this was actually an urgent situation and within 90 minutes I was in the office. Each staff member I encountered was professional and welcoming and my eye issue was effectively addressed and throughly explained by Dr. Mathai. I honestly cannot recall having a better experience with a healthcare provider.

True Professional
Just a great doctor and experience with repairing my torn retina, she has a nice touch and always considering the patients pain levels. She explains in details any process from the beginning to the end which I appreciate to better understand what has happen and how my recovery will be especially with a sensitive area such as the human eye. As long as she's in the DC area she will be my retina doctor.

Dr. Mathai well deserves 5 stars!
I suffered an eye emergency late on a Thursday evening and placed a call to the RGW emergency line. Dr. Mathai responded and was able to see me early the next morning at the Capitol Hill office. She examined me thoroughly, and her confidence, professionalism and compassion were a huge comfort in my situation. If the rating system allowed it, I would gladly go higher than 5 stars for Dr. Mathai!
