First primary care doctor in 5 years who I felt REALLY listened to me. She was a bit rushed - yet I think that this is the system - not the doctor - yet she stopped to listen = even as she was "on the clock" and she even mentioned "out of the box" thinking when we were trouble-shooting an issue. I feel so relieved to have found her.

Most interested in control, not health
Dr. Rodriguez Contreras had proved not only unhelpful with my health issues, but dangerous. She's concerned about controlling the dialogue versus collaborating with a patien. With my concerns about weight (30 pounds post-meno) she dismissed all pharmaceutical options, and suggested lunges. She is woefully ignorant about sugar-containing food. Twice she forgot to send in lab orders. She sent in the wrong prescription dosage, and she doesn't answer emails for days. She doesn't know how to monitor/handle basic thyroid issues (my TSH had jumped from 1 to 4--perhaps contributing to weight issue) and referred me to an expensive endo, for which I will wait months. She didn't care about my sudden onset full-body pain, refused basic tests suggested by a PT, didn't order labs, and became fixated on potassium.(?) Her failed care landed me in Urgent Care twice in 8 days, where very experienced PCPs ordered many labs (and gave me steroids for pain) with a view to determining the cause.

My doctor of 23 years retired. It took me forever to find Dr. Rodriguez Contreras. She LISTENED TO ME. She was awesome but decided to stop practicing to pursue a fellowship. I'm heart broken. Her replacement is awful. I'm currently on the hunt for a new internist. If she ever begins practicing in this area again I'll be her first patient.
