Dr. Maria Ramirez, MD

The original visit was fine. But she has. I time for patients after she sees you. It takes several months to get an appointment and she never responds to messages through the MyChart. It is always a nurse and they don’t read the messages sent. They scan and send a reply that sometimes makes sense. More often it does not apply or is off base from the request. Dr Ramirez does not care about her patients. I would recommend another endocrinologist….outside of INOVA if possible. You will not get good treatment here.

Everything about Dr. Ramirez is thorough and professional. It is easy to make an appointment in her office, and appointment times are respected. There is not long waiting in the waiting room. She listens intently and asks questions that make you feel like you are heard. When you need a Rx filled and your pharmacy calls, she gets it done for you promptly. I have seen her for a couple of years now, and, so far, I am very pleased with her services.

I felt like she did not listen to me and did what she thought was best, which resulted in an Urgent care and ER visit. I am type 1 Diabetic and pregnant. She also did not write a prior authorization for my insulin until 5 days later when I explained to her I only had enough insulin to last me about the next day lunch time. I did not want to switch my insulin and she said that all insulin can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).

The service this office provides is mediocre at best, but there is a twist. This doctor advertises in diabetes special care. Beware, as she routinely diagnoses you as a pre-diabetic, notwithstandning the evidence.
