Dr. Maria Oconer, MD

She is rude, talks over you by yelling and she's NOT empathetic or a compassionate person. I was hospilized for 5 days and was treated for 5 different diagnosis. She only addressed one and insisted that I was treated for only one when my DC paperwork specifically states 5 altogether. She embarrassed me in front of her staff and another patient who was still waiting. I will no longer continue to be talked down to. My insurance company has been aware of her 'short and rushed' appointments in case she's billing incorrectly and will be switching to a more professional one. I can't believe I waited so long to make this decision as my husband who also feels the same will no longer be a patient as well. After a heart attack last year of which she claims had no knowledge of yelled at him stating 'I told you to stop smoking'.

She is nice enough but forms opinions quickly. Several times when I've had a health issue she said i had anxiety. I am very laid back, no anxiety here. Both times she said that it ended up being something totally different

You can't show emotion or she will accuse you of being depressed or anxious. She interrupts and talks over you. She doesn't listen and thinks she knows more about your body since she's a doctor. When tests come back that prove her wrong, she moves on without addressing it. She talks about weight loss so much (blaming issues on that) but when you lose over 65 lbs, she doesn't even mention the loss at all. I leave her office feeling worse than when I went in because of how she treats me. I don't recommend her for anything.

Very excellent care. Trust Dr. Oconer completely.

If you’re looking for a PCP, she is Not good. She talks constantly and doesn’t listen to what you have to say. She talks over you and doesn’t care about you’re overall well-being.

Doesn’t follow through with her patients. Takes three days to get a call back!!

I am a 68 year old OR nurse with 50 years in the medical field. I spent the first 9 years in Respiratory Therapy, worked in Dr’s offices, and in hospitals for the last 22 years. I can say without hesitation, after my first visit as a patient with Dr O’Coner, I’m VERY impressed with her knowledge and compassionate attitude. Her staff is excellent, also. Having recently moved to the lovely state of Florida, I am so very please to have found her!!!

Would not recommend. She lacks compassion or empathy of any kind. Probably the very worst doctor I have ever encountered in my entire life.

Thorough assessments, direct explanations of medical conditions and treatment plans. Staff is warm and helpful.

She is an amazing doctor. Very knowledgeable. Sometimes she can eb a little too honest that might hurt your feelings a little bit. But she is always right.

Dr. Oconer was knowledgeable and compassionate. I was devastated to hear she was moving to another city. The only issue I had with this practice is with the MA who handles her practice. She mixed up patients and prescriptions frequently and should have been replaced.
