I had the unfortunate experience with Dr. McElroy at one of my last prenatal appointments. She insisted that I needed to be induced and when I told her that wasn’t something I wanted or needed to do medically she tried to scare me into it by saying that women who go past their due date are more likely to have still births. She also told me that my weight was a factor as well but no other doctor brought that up at any other appointment. I didn’t feel like she cared about what I was saying but was trying to push her views on me. Even though I told her I didn’t want to schedule an appointment to come in and be induced she scheduled it anyways.

Dr. McElroy was very sweet and kind and when asking about my current BC and switching, she did give knowledgeable answers. However, after one or two of my questions, it seemed like she rushed to end the conversation and went straight into the exam and Pap smear. She was in and out of the room extremely fast and I felt as though I wasn’t as important as other patients. I had very valid concerns and felt that she immediately went to “let’s change your BC to this one” without much explanation other than it’s a lower dose. I walked myself out of the room and to the checkout desk after wondering if the exam was truly over already.

Made me feel like a number and not a patient. Did not even address the issue I came in for and made me feel like a nuisance for having additional questions. After the exam I had to ask her blatantly for the answer to my concern. Was in and out in a few short minutes. Left feeling like the visit was completely pointless, a waste of time, and ended up making another appointment with a different practitioner. Very disappointed - was looking forward to seeing a DO because of their holistic view of the body. For such an intimate field of medicine this was the coldest medical experience I have ever had. Poor bedside manner.

One star is too much. Don’t go to Wilmington health. Not treated as a patient, just dollar signs. Same test done three times with no explanation. Called to inquire and still haven’t gotten answers. Horrible care and customer service!!! No integrity or accountability.

I would not recommend her to my family or friends. I saw her as a new patient due to insurance change. I asked her if my previous dr had sent over my records and she told me she didn't know, she didn't check. I thought it was common practice to review a new patients history , especially biopsy reports before seeing a patient. Her exam was rushed and she was out the door quick. I will not be going back.

I was not looking forward to my appointment for a papsmear this past Monday. Yet, from the beginning to the end of my visit with Dr. McElroy, I was very comfortable. Dr. McElroy was very compassionate, knowledgeable, competent and helpful! Thanks Dr. McElroy! I won't be dreading my next visit.
