Top neurosurgeon Dr. Marcus Ware saved my life
At 40 years old--a husband and father of four boys--I started having a rare vision condition called palinopsia. An MRI showed a brain mass initially diagnosed as an arachnoid cyst. Dr. Marcus Ware recommended a craniectomy and removal of the cyst. I sought a second opinion from a guy who was lauded as the "top neurosurgeon" in New Orleans, and he acted like surgery would be mad science. My intellect and gut told me to trust Dr. Ware: he had carefully considered the medical evidence and appeared to be more concerned about helping his patient than his own risk of performing a difficult surgery. I underwent surgery. It turned out, as I'm sure Dr. Ware suspected, the lesion was a tumor dangerously close to puncturing a ventricle and killing me. Now two months post-op, my vision problems are gone and I have returned to normal life, better than before. I have the chance to live and spend another 40 years with my wife and kids, which might not have been the case without Dr. Ware's care.

Dr Ware is the ultimate neurosurgeon. He has superb bedside manner. He took time to listen to my concerns and gave explanations that I could understand. I can’t imagine my surgery going any better than it did. He is truly gifted and gave me my life back.

I have a spontaneous spinal csf leak. I went to Dr. Ware for help in finding and fixing the leak. It occurred 11/1/2017. After a long and painful uphill battle with many specialists I found Dr. Ware. I felt a sense of sense of relief after reviewing all of his credentials. Our first appointment was very promising. I followed up with 2 ct myelograms. Not finding the leak either time. I also had a lumbar drain to measure my opening and closing csf pressure. It was also normal. Dr. Ware was incredibly rude to me during my hospital stay. Only visiting me twice in four days. He then dismissed me and said that I had no leak. There's a ton of evidence that shows Dr. Ware's assumptions about spontaneous leaks are wrong. They are elusive, especially ongoing ones that may be intermittent or slow. I never got any sort of follow ups, no plan of care, no more tests. Just get out we can't do anything for you. Dr. Ware's nurse was rude and apathetic when I tried to find out what else

If you have an inoperable brain tumor, Dr. Ware is not interested in you. He provided no time line, i.e., how long do I have to live, and said radiation was the way to go. Had to press him for side effects. Said his office would get me apptmt quickly. Still waiting.

Dr. Ware was a very attentive surgeon when I first saw him. I had two failed spinal fusions with him. The 1st fusion failed do to the disc cage collapsing. The 2nd fusion he placed larger screws and another disc cage and that caused even more pain. I was unable to walk and the pain was Excruciating! He ordered a spinal cordstimulator that didn’t help.I was told that the manufacturers of the disc cage would be a the surgery and that wasn’t true. He began to distance himself from me. Disappointed

Dr. Ware is comparable with other doctors in his profession however his choice of nurses and his expectations of them seem to be lacking. Don't expect too much from his nurse.

My mother broke her neck and saw Dr. Ware. He's very nice and assured us that someone would contact us the next day for her to be fitted for a neckbrace I have made countless telephone calls to his office and spoken with several members of his staff and here four weeks later no help at all. I would never recommend this physician to anyone because the quality of care seems to not be even near the radar of their priorities.

I seen Dr. Ware when he was at Tulane Medical Center. I have Chairi Malformation and I am having alot allot of trouble finding a Dr to treat me properly. I tried making an appointment with Dr Ware at Ochsner but they told me they don't accept Louisiana Health Care Connection. I really need to see him. I am having multiple complications and the Dr I was seeing that has been treating me for about the last 5 years told me that I am a very tough case and highly recommends me get a second opinion

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Ware?
Dr. Ware may be good at what he does and was attentive on days leading to surgery but I will say between himself and his office the bedside manner and being available for a patients need after surgery is pretty much nonexistent. Once he's done, I guess he's done. Very disappointing that cannot get any advice, answers, or concern when reaching out.
