Uninformed and condescending, a dangerous combo
I wasn't pleased with my handful of experiences working with Dr. Mercader. I had sought out the Long Covid clinic that Dr. Mercader was part of at the time to try and get a better handle on the multi-system issues (cardiac included) that were going on with my body. It wasn't just the fact that he was dismissive about my symptoms and recommended treatment options that have been proven by studies to be harmful to patients with similar issues, it was the fact that he delivered all of the information in an incredibly smug and condescending way. I've since worked with other more informed and understanding cardiologists since, and would never recommend anyone to see Dr. Mercader.

Dr. Mercader was very responsive to my emergency situation, in which I needed an ICD. And over the last 6 years he has more than met my needs as my physician. He answers my questions and provides reassurance when I need it. Recently, he went well above the call of duty when I needed a procedure in gynecology that involved electrocautery. He came to my aid within a few minutes, and stayed with me throughout the procedure. He was calm and reassuring. He is a cardiologist with a real heart!
