Dr. Marc Smaldone, MD

When I was diagnosed with high risk prostate cancer, I came to Fox Chase for a consult on treatment options. Being a retired OB GYN physician, I knew that where you start your care matters most. From the first time I met Dr. Marc Smaldone I knew I was in good hands. His nurse Kathleen helped create a calm setting with her friendly personality. My first impression of Dr Smaldone was that of a caring intelligent physician who was confident of his surgical skills. He explained my options in a clear knowledgeable fashion and helped me decide that surgery was my best option. The surgery proceeded exactly as he had projected. Dr. Smaldone was available for any post op questions that arose and answered within minutes. At my 3 month post op visit he outlined the plan for continued care. I felt confident that he will be following me closely for any signs of recurrence. I could not have asked for a better urologic surgeon, office staff and Cancer Center for my care.

He performed my prostatectomy 7 years ago, and I found him to be very thorough and highly experienced. Great bedside manner and compassion. Years after my surgery he always responded to questions I had via text messages. I highly recommend Dr. Smaldone.

DR.Smaldone has taken great care of my father-in-law he had bladder cancer & prostate cancer he is now currently cancer free so far So good Dr.Smaldone is a very nice and caring doctor his team was wonderful and took great care of my father-in-law. when he had both surgeries We are forever grateful to Smaldone for saving his life. I met with Dr. Smaldone as a Second Opinion. He and his Nurse (Kelly Bailey) were welcoming and made me feel comfortable from the moment I stepped into the office. In reviewing tests results and discussing surgery options, it was evident to me that he is knowledgeable, caring and forthcoming and made me feel at ease with the process I was about to endure. He answered all our questions we had at the time and offered his contact info in case we had other issues, questions. My stay in the hospital was also a very good experience. Prior to meeting Dr. Smaldone, I spent 6 weeks at another of Philadelphia's best and most well known hospitals having every possible test done. The end result was that the source of my cancer couldn't be found. My wife wasn’t satisfied with that answer and made on appointment online for us to receive a second opinion at Fox Chase, where her aunt had been treated for cancer with great results. Dr. Smaldone, along with Dr. Elizabeth Plimack (genitourinary oncologist), provided me with leading edge medical treatment to treat stage 4 bladder cancer. Dr. Smaldone (FoxChase Cancer Center) has great surgical skills. He is competent, professional and compassionate. All diagnostic departments at Foxchase are available 24/7 as they continue to monitor my condition. Most importantly Dr. Smaldone and Dr. Plimack are always available to answer any questions that might arise - They are never rushed.

Dr. Smaldone has been taking excellent care of my mother for years, and when I ended up having an issue, he expedited my testing and procedures.
