Both Dr.Kitaj and her receptionist Karen are incredibly rude. Important information even from the insurance company can't get information to the Dr due to Karens negligence. Dr. Kitaj does not listen to her patients and forces all of them to get "regular blood work" but then hides Lyme disease tests within them for no reason! You're insurance wont pay for it because you have zero symptoms and there is no correlation between the test and neurology, insurance marks it as medically unnecessary. Karen the receptionist told me every single patient receives the same blood tests with zero exceptions, so I know that know what they are doing. Hundreds of dollars down the drain AND at the end I still did not get the medication dosage I requested. After many months of requesting my medical records so I could go elsewhere, I got them and Dr. Kitaj added medical diagnosis' I have never had. This is one of the worst doctors office I have ever been to, I cannot stress that enough.

Unprofessional and Unsafe Experience
My experience with Dr. Kitaj has been awful. When I first saw her in 2009, she was fine, and we found meds that worked. As an adult, I returned for the same medication, but she forcibly prescribed different meds despite my concerns. Similar meds had made me very ill before. She mocked me in her notes for refusing the new meds. Despite doing the required blood work, she refused to prescribe my requested dose, instead giving double, which felt like a heart attack.Dealing with her receptionist, Karen, was a nightmare. Karen rudely discussed my medication and messed up my prescription, sending it to an out-of-state pharmacy. After much pleading, I got the wrong dosage again. Dr. Kitaj yelled at me in person, refused to call the pharmacy, and still provided an incorrect dose.My insurance was billed $700 due to incorrect coding, which Karen refused to aid in. I had to file a claim to force a reevaluation. After months of hassle, I still don't have the right dosage, and im out hundreds.

After several months of debilitating headaches, numerous times a day, I went to see Dr. Kitaj. She asked excellent questions, ordered two tests, identified the root cause, ordered one medication, and now I have been headache free for three months. Dr. Kitaj is a caring, thorough, thoughtful, professional neurologist. Look no further!

I suffer from chronic migraine, have been to six neurologists including two in NYC, and can safely say that Dr. Kitaj is my favorite. She’s on top of the latest migraine treatments and supplement and nutritional support. Treating my condition is complicated by other health issues but Dr. Kitaj is informed and is always one step ahead in my treatment plan. She is a true migraineur’s advocate, listens to my concerns, supports my suggestions and is a truly nice person. I highly recommend her!

Dr. Kitaj is a very thorough doctor who takes in consideration the overall aspects of a person's health in correlation to their whole body. My experience with her over the past seven years has been a very positive one. I would highly recommend her to anyone that is in need of a Neurologist that is honest, open, reasonable, and takes the time to listen to the patient. She prescribes the necessary tests and prescriptions when needed. Dr. K. is far superior than other Neurologists I encountered.
