Dr. Luis Hernandez, MD

Due to several reoccurring bouts of diverticulitis where an abscess developed, my primary care physician recommended I immediately have surgery to remove the damaged section of my colon. After interviewing several surgeons, I selected Dr Hernandez due to his experience with robotic surgery of this nature. The surgery was very successful, and I was back to normal activities after several days. Even though the surgery took place on Easter weekend, Dr. Hernandez after briefing my wife on the surgery results, visited with me three times during the two days I was hospitalized. His patience with me was excellent as he explained the surgical procedure that occurred and the results that were to be expected. Subsequently, I have had no problems resulting from this surgery and highly recommend Dr. Hernandez for this procedure.

O thankyou, no thankyou! This surgeon is not trustworthy after what I have dealt with. He lies but took the hippocratic oath! I would never recommend.

The poorest experience one could have with a surgeon. Integrity seems a minimal priority for this doctor.

There are absolutely not enough words to express how grateful I am. Not only did this physician operate to remove my tumor, but he humbly saved my life. His compassion to his patients, his undeniable knowledge, and overall attention he gives to each of his patients is what makes him such an exception physician. I am eternally grateful!

Terrible service/doctor. He recommended me a surgery procedure that didn’t work. He decided to move forward with a procedure without knowing how complicated my fistula was. Very unprofessional. After the surgery, I was in real pain and out of work for 2 weeks. This was a completely waste of my time and money too. Few weeks later, after the unsuccessful surgery, I got a job in Chicago. I went to another doctor. An amazing doctor that made my problem look as an easy fixed. I asked about the procedure he was going to move forward with...guess what Dr. Luis Hernandez. He told me that the only way to make the right decision is in the operating room, when he can see the complication of my fistula. Totally opposite of what you did! I got the surgery, no pain at all. I went back to work after 3 days of the surgery. Problem solved.

I came to Dr. Hernandez w/ bad hemorrhoids. Hernandez recommended surgery & performed a Hemorrhoidectomy. Before surgery he told me that it should be 1-2 weeks of pretty intense pain, much less next 2 weeks and by week 6 almost no pain at all. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Next 5 months were horrible and I could never get off heavy pain medication given to me at the hospital. After several visits where he simply recommended to give it more time, I finally changed doctors and had another procedure done which finally addressed the situation correctly. Hernandez is ok but in my opinion simply does not have enough experience to handle these types of situations. He should have recommended that I hold off on surgery for a couple of weeks initially so the swelling of the hemorrhoids could go down which would result in a faster recover time afterwards. If you have severe hemorrhoids, do not rush into an operation and only do with a highly experienced surgeon.

Dr. Hernandez saved my daughters life. Enough cannot be said about his skill as a surgeon. All of the nurses in the hospital were amazed at the surgery he performed. He is also a very nice sincere person that listens, explains and really cares. God bless Dr. Hernandez he will always be in my family’s prayers.
