what stood out for me is how much he cares and love his job and its a very easy read for me.the minute Dr Matherne come to check me out after the 1st surgery ,2 total....1 in jully and the other in oct 22nd ....so i said thank you doctor...he replies just doing my job ,i had to thank him 1 more time and explain to him a bit better.. in this day and age there is no more Doctors ,Nurses all we have is a bunch of corporations owing the Medical field and bingo...now you work for the Machine $$$ This Man Above Stand for what a real doctor should ..on a scale of 1 to 10 he gets a 11 from me

I met Dr. Matherne while I was a patient in the hospital. I was impressed because he is the only person that came in to meet me and came down to my level, rathering than standing over me. I was very sick and laying in bed. He sat down on the couch in the room and brought himself to my level and gave me eye contact. He listened to what I had to say, rather than telling me what to do. I was impressed that he wanted to hear what I had to say. In our conversation, some of the things we discussed made much more sense than what others had said. He is also the only one that gave me a card with his name. I wasn't going to remember names but his card makes me remember him and his caring. No, this doctor didn't treat me. But there is a lot to be said about how someone treats you in a position like this. I'm keeping his information. I may need it one day. There are a lot of demands on doctors and it is nice to find one that will stop for a minute and really listen to you.

The check-in process for my initial consultation was prompt and there was very little wait time. The waiting area and offices are very clean and all of the personnel wore masks. Dr. Matherne has a friendly, kind personality and he listens to your concerns. He did a great job explaining my current situation, as well as explaining in detail what outcomes I could expect during and after surgery, depending on the condition and health of my intestines. Dr. Matherne reviewed my previous surgery reports so that he had a good understanding of possible complications that he may encounter during surgery. He came in to talk with me before surgery and he provided an update to my husband right after surgery. He visited me every day after surgery when I was in the hospital to check in and see how I was doing and he answered all of my questions. He really cares about your health and wellbeing.

Nov 14th I went to the ER with chest pain. After some tests and a 2.5 day hospital stay it was determined it was my gallbladder. Every doctor I saw said gallbladder except Dr Matherne who was the surgeon who would remove it. He insisted it was a small ulcer in my stomach despite Dr Avi saying there was no chance of it. On Nov 16th I was sent home. The very next day I had another attack and saw Dr Soule who said it was for sure my gallbladder and removed it. It was infected and had stones.

My grandson came into Greenview ER septic on 09/01/2018. After many tests, Dr. Matherne was contacted to remove his gallbladder which was embedded with gallstones. The usual minor surgery turned into a several hour surgery. The team called out with updates often. Dr. Matherne had a very extensive mess to clean up since the organ was dead and necrotic. He did an excellent job from bringing him near death. He has the best bedside manner and took the time to sit and answer all questions!!
