Knows her business
I had been suffering from shortness of breath. Saw a number of doctors. Was told I had a hiatal hernia but no one connected it to my breathing problem. Dr. Lucas ordered an upper GI series and saw that my stomach and a part of my small intestine were in my chest. She recommended a surgeon and after surgery my problem was solved. Thanks Doctor.

The visit with Dr. Lucas was great. She and her staff treated me with respect and professionalism. Dr. Lucas prescribe my procedure with language I could understand with exact detail of my procedure and what she would be doing. I would recommend she and her staff very highly. The scheduling of my procedure was at my convenience.

Your sign in tablet is a nightmare. It is not intuitive. It asks to many questions and has to many menus. It should have one question first for repeat patients, " Has anything changed?" if not then say "Complete Thank You" ! Also i had to wait 50 minutes to see my doctor.

Dr. Lucas was professional and did not keep me waiting. She explained every thing she would need to do and what to expect with the prep. The day of the procedures she came in and spoke with me to reassure me she was indeed the doctor preforming my procedures and asked if I had any questions before the anesthesia was administered. She came by to report the results of the procedures. Complete written reports with pictures were given to me prior to my discharge. Not only was she very personable, reassuring and professional, she treated her staff with respect. That is important to me, as the staff in my opinion, are equally important for the success of my treatment. This practice is very good, and provided an excellent service for me.

Dr. Lucas is great. I started going to Dr. Lucas after my gastro of many years with the same practice retired. I have had ulcerative colitis for 50 years. I recommend her any time someone asks for a recommendation for a gastroenterologist. She is very concerned about her patients. She listens. She is straightforward which is good. Her staff and scheduling team have always been friendly and helpful. My most recent visit I only waited about 10 minutes. Even if wait had been longer, I am sure there would have been a good reason. I trust and value her being my Doctor.

Dr. Lucas is very personable and takes time with her patients at each visit. She is very cautious and I sincerely appreciate that. My families medical history is not the best and Dr. Lucas stays on top of that. I know I am in good hands.

From scheduling to day of procedure was frustrating. No flexibility in the prep procedure. Would only offer up a 2 day prep unless I wanted to come in to see (pay) to see Dr Lucas - then she would prescribe suprep. And this visit was not overdue - it is right on time. Also, told them I would pay self pay. Day of visit I arrive & they say nope no one told us so you have to file with insurance. I pushed back on that and they delayed the start of my procedure by 2 plus hours in order for me to be able to self pay. Seriously? I would not recommend. The staff is rude, Dr Lucas has absolutely no bedside manner...and because the two offices don't talk to each other they expected me to go with the amount it would cost me to file with insurance. Go anywhere but here.

I switched to Dr. Lucas after my long-term doctor within the same practice retired. After performing my yearly colonoscopy (results showing I was in remission), I called the office to report I wasn’t feeling well at all. Her assistant took a week to get back to me, and meds were phoned in, which did not help. This went on for a couple of weeks, and I went downhill fast. She told me to go to the ER rather than seeing me. The steroids still did not help. Phone tag continued. After six weeks, I figured out that I had c. diff by doing my own research. I showed up at the office unannounced and asked for a lab test to confirm. I figured she couldn’t ignore me to my face. WRONG! She sent someone down to me to tell me to go to the ER. I was instantly admitted, spent several days there, ended up under the care of an infectious disease doc, required surgery, and eventually required a fecal transplant. She nearly killed me. No bedside manner. Completely unprofessional.

Dr. Lucas with her busy schedule does contact the patient with results of tests. Stephanie her patient contact person, also, is very amicable and answers all my questions. If not, she refers me to Dr. Lucas. Dr. Lucas is so, so much better than Dr. Friedman who I saw for years, but I had to make a change due to lack of communication.
