Dr. Lorena McConnell, MD

I had gone previously to my regular doctor about the symptoms I was having they just confirmed my symptoms but couldn't really figure out what was going on. Called my oncologist just to make sure it wasn't my medication. I had been feeling this way already for a couple weeks and the symptoms were a little scary. I was having a super fast heartbeat, shortness of breath, etc., but my blood pressure was normal. After a few more days of these scary symptoms one of my friends said just go to the ER. I told them my symptoms, they ran the obvious tests. After a few of the results came back Dr McConnell came and talked to me. She said they were normal and asked me a few other questions. During this conversation she kept saying interesting. Interesting. And then she just goes sounds like your thyroid. Added that on to the tests and sure enough, that's what it ended up being. Very impressed.

I went to the ER this morning and was Seen by doctor McConnell, Lorena MD and it was the worst experience of my life, which is saying a lot for being a RN myself. She did not listen to my concerns and her assessment skills were extremely poor. I am also certain she has little experience working with patients of color. I kept telling her what I was feeling and what my concerns were, but she was not interested in hearing me. With her 5 years of experience, I would have expected a better bed side manner and concern for her patience. Overall, I am extremely disappointed with my treatment and diagnosis which is definitely incorrect. The only positive interaction I had was the very understanding nurse who tried to comfort me while I cried after the consultation with the doctor. Please take the time to listen to your patients and that will save them from ending up in the hospital for a long period of time.
