I (white female) was a patient at Smith Haven Pediatrics from birth until age 18. Here are snapshots of some of my experiences: When I was 5, I had a developmentally appropriate negative reaction to getting my blood drawn. One of the nurses holding me down twisted my leg. Before she let me up, she also pinched me. Additionally, I had to hear at every appointment after that up until my college physical, "Remember that time when you were 5 and you were SO BAD?" When I was 11, I had already begun to "develop." Dr. Chernobilsky walked into the exam room, barely said hello and immediately pulled my shirt all the way up and said, "Whoa!" Gardasil (the HPV) vaccine came out around the time I was 18. At my pre-college physical while going over the vaccines I would need, Dr. Chernobilsky said, "And there is another vaccine that you can have if you want, but I hope you would use your brain before you use any other part of your body." I was stunned. He then yelled, "WHAT DO YOU WANT?! Answer me!"

Dr Chernobilsky is an incredible doctor, As are his partners in the office. He has cared for my children since birth and my oldest is now headed off to college. We feel so lucky to have found him and have never had a negative word to say about him. He is wonderful!! Love Dr. C!

Awful. He was an on-call doctor for my normal pediatric doctor. I needed a doctor's note to submit to LIPA as we were having extreme weather conditions (and we frequently lose power). LIPA instructed me to submit a doctor's note and they would move our household to priority (my son had been in the ER nights before with respiratory distress and needed nebulizer treatments). When I pleaded with the doctor to email a note he told me he didn't have time for this and as I explained the ER visit nights earlier, he hung up on me. I wouldn't have him look at a stray dog. Compassionless, unapologetic, heartless. I sent him a professional letter indicating my displeasure, and he did not acknowledge it nor apologize. ZERO stars is not an option -- I would leave MINUS stars.
