Love Him
I have been going to Dr Turtel for 21 years now, he has done surgery on me twice, once when I was 9 months old and another when I was around 6 (my eyes were really curved, I have infantile esotropia) I feel so comfortable with him. For cosmetic reasons I have been going back and forth between getting surgery again or not to fix my eye. Not once has he made me feel like I NEED the surgery. He never pushed me towards it and offered me extra visits to discuss y surgery when I was considering it. I am getting the surgery this week and wouldn't trust anyone else to do it.

Terrible Bedside Manners
Been to the Little Silver office several times with my toddler. The staff is not friendly, the staff is not good with children. They always look miserable, they talk about other patients where we can hear from waiting room, if you have questions…forget it. The staff has terrible attitudes, like you should already know what their response will be. If you hate being there, find a new job. I’ve never seen anybody give them a hard time, but waiting 2-3 hours, I’ve watched them be rude to patient after patient. The staff and Turtle are condescending. Appointment was rushed. Putting eye drops in a toddlers eyes, they cry, the Turtle gets aggravated. As a parent, Turtle gets impatient and taps the kids on the head… what is that? The tapping….because the toddler gets distracted? One visit you’re getting yelled at for not being able to get your kid used to wearing a patch or from being overtired from the wait and not answering his commands. Almighty Dollar. See someone else.

Exceptionally thorough!
Dr Turtel is the best of the best! My son ended up at wills eye hospital in Philly after dr Turtel spotted COATS disease at a very early stage. He was not having any issues and was just seeing DR. Turtel for a routine eye exam. The world renowned specialist at wills eye hospital said Turtel saved his vision and she has never seen an Opthamologist catch it so early.

I needed to have eye surgery for my daughter for Infant Strabismus and was initially very nervous. However, Dr. Turtel explained everything really thoroughly and relieved a lot of my worries. It has now been a month and half after the surgery and it went great! She recovered very easily and her eyes look perfect. He is a very good surgeon.

My daughter was born cross fixated in both eyes. My pediatrician recommended Dr. Turtel and we could not have been happier. He was extremely caring with our family. He explained everything in simple terms and let us know if we were looking for a "quicker" fix he could recommend someone else but based on his experience best to wait till she was a year old to undergo surgery as sometimes things could change on their own over time. We saw him frequently in the year leading up to her surgery. He made us feel calm and assured us we were in the right hands. Her surgery was beyond perfect. I highly recommend Dr. Turtel.

Dr. Turtel performed double eye surgery on my twelve-year-old daughter and I couldn't be happier with the results. He was so good with her and made her so comfortable. He also gave me his cellphone number after the surgery and checked in with me for days afterwards to make sure she was doing OK and answering all questions I had which was extremely helpful. My mind was at such ease knowing he was just a call away over the weekend after surgery. He is very caring and I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Turtle is phenomenal! My daughter has been seeing him since was 3, she is now 9. He always makes her laugh and is very patient and kind. He goes out of his way to explain everything as he completes the exam. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for pediatric ophthalmologist.

My daughter has been coming here every 6 months since she was 3. It has always been a great experience, she loves her appointments ("he does magic tricks!!"). She is 6 now and when I told her she had an appointment she was out of her mind excited for 2 days to get to go. Everyone is very nice and extremely helpful.

Excellent Dr and staff. Treated my son with caring and patience. He had to have surgery for strabismus. Nerve racking for both my 10 year old and myself. However, Dr. Turtel was there to answer every question we were so pleased with the results.

Dr. Turtel has been spectacular with my almost 7 year old. We've been seeing him for a year for her weak left eye that has a small cataract. He is so kind with her and so bright. He is extremely smart and hasn't hesitated to figure her issue out for the best. The staff is STELLAR too!

Dr. Turtel diagnosed my son with bilateral cataracts when he was 8 months old. We have been going to see him regularly since then, for almost 10 years. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Turtel. When my son needed cataract surgery, he recommended a surgeon at Wills Eye who subsequently did an incredible job on both of my son’s cataract surgeries. But more importantly, Dr. Turtel was willing to call the surgeon and insist that he saw my son before the surgeon left for a vacation. This simple outreach potentially changed the outcome of my son’s vision. He has since gone to bat for us again prior to my son’s strabismus surgery when he was concerned regarding an issue prior to surgery in the OR. Dr. Turtel is always patient with my son (who has not always been the easiest patient) and gets the exam done and if ever we have concerns or questions, he is always available. The staff in the Little Silver office is friendly and kind to my son, even when he’s giving them a hard time!

Dr. Turtel helped to save my toddler's vision in one eye. She saw another doctor who said nothing could be done about her bad eye, as she was too old to fix it. Dr. Turtel is patient, extremely knowledgeable and I trust him with my children's vision.

Dr Turtel is amazing. I wouldn’t take my children to any other opthomologist. He diagnosed my nephew with a rare eye disease, after my sister had gone from doctor to doctor, and likely saved his sight. Over the years, he has treated all of my children, and recently so adeptly removes a foreign object from one of my son’s eyes. He is very smart and capable, but also has such a wonderful ease about him around children. I highly recommend Dr. Turtel!

Dr. Turtel is amazing! I was shocked to see my daughter couldn’t see a picture 12x12 with only her right eye. I had no idea how bad her vision was. After just 6 months under Dr. Turtels care we saw huge improvements. She is now seeing 20/20 with her glasses. And can even read the smallest print on the chart!

My daughter and I absolutely love Dr. Turtel. He has been treating my daughter since she was little to correct her vision as well as a tiny lazy eye. She is now 12 and is thriving under his care. He has also done check ups on my other 3 children who have no vision issues but they really enjoy their check ups. Highly recommend Dr. Turtel. His professionalism, bedside manner and warm personality coupled with a pristine office and wonderful staff make every visit great!

We have been seeing Dr. Turtel for the last 8 years. He is a very knowledgeable, caring doctor. His voice is so calming during the exam which helps with the nerves of having someone staring at your eyes for 20 minutes. His staff is always helpful and sweet at the desk.

We were referred to Dr. Turtel by a friend after the first pediatric ophthalmologist we visited left us with little to no answers. I cannot say enough amazing things about Dr. Turtel and his staff. We first visited him when my son was 2 months old. Over the course of the next year he worked through numerous treatments to improve his eye sight, eventually performing muscle surgery on both eyes. Our little boy is doing great and thriving! We owe a ton of thanks to Dr. Turtel and his team

According to Dr. Turtel, my eyes are healing perfectly, and that's all thanks to him. For the longest time I thought something was going on with my left eye, and as it turned out, it caused me to have double vision. Dr. Turtel was able to perform surgery on both of my eyes to fix the crossing issue, and I no longer have the double vision. I definitely recommend Dr. Turtel!
