When an elderly patient is on her second hospitalization inside a month, the first following a fall (broken femur) preceding a 2.5 hour TKR revision resulting in brain fog due to analgesia malpractice; hasn't eaten solid food in 2.5 weeks in hospital (AMC) - and the attending 'fledgling' hospitalist writes in his notes, "Severe, life-threatening malnutrition due to recent hospitalizations", the learned family advocate kind of expects an NG tube if not a PEG rather than starvation (IV fluids ONLY). Tse had to be *instructed* to order this - and an EEG as well ('somnolence'). This is medical incompetence reflecting the larger institution's desire to throw the elderly patient under the bus. I, a 59-yr-old medical man who knows his mother better than anyone, also received a morality check from this 'child doctor' who knew absolutely nothing about my mother: "I just want to make sure you're following her wishes." Inexperienced, lacks medical orientation and philosophical wisdom. Grade: F
