Dr. Laurie Harden, MD

I was more hopeful about seeing Dr. Harden since she left APG for her own practice. This proves to be a challenge, however, since it is VERY difficult to reach a person on the phone with her office. Once you finally do, appointments are being booked several months in advance, IF she chooses to accept you and take you on as a patient. The "answering service" who I assume is part of the office staff is extremely difficult to work with. I wish I had the opportunity to leave Dr. Harden herself a review, but the office staff killed it and I don't believe I will be getting to see her after all. Very frustrating experience.

Until I found Dr. Harden, my 15 years of treatment had been a revolving door of 10+ underwhelming, disappointing - if not dangerous - psychiatrists. With patience and understanding, Dr. Harden helped me through a very difficult time and has helped me maintain my balance for the past 6 years! She and her staff are thorough, compassionate, available and prompt. I highly recommend her as a physician and as a person.

My 20 year old daughter has suffered from ADD and Anxiety Since she was 17 and we lived in a different state. Since she was home from college due to Covid we needed to find a doc in Orlando. After two visits with the PA (Dr Harden had no availability), which we waited 2 months for, my daughter was told that maybe she didn’t have ADD and that she needed to essentially find another doc since she was heading back to school. And during the 20 minute appointment, the PA was on another phone call while talking with my daughter! Needless to say, the experience for an anxiety ridden young adult was terrible. While I’m sure the office is busy due to corona, there is no excuse for her treatment. She came home in tears.

I have been with Dr. Harden for many years. I am never late, always on time, and I don't cancel appointments. She has no exceptions happening for life events. My insurance cancelled my mental health coverage and I had to cancel same day. She did not care and charged me $50 cancellation for same day. I asked if she could make an exception while I figure my insurance out and she said no. I can find someone who cares more about me through Covid and insurance problems.

Dr. Harden is fantastic! I have been seeing her consistently for several years, she always take the time to really understand the challenges I am facing and come up with a treatment plan to help me get thru them. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a kind, insightful psychiatrist.

Dr. Harden is incredible. She takes the time each month to listen to all my concerns. She doesn’t rush me out the door when my appointment is over. I’ve seen many psychiatrists over the last 20 years and she is my favorite, wish I could have taken her with me when I moved.

Dr. Harden took the time to listen to my concerns and discussed a plan of action before changing my medications. I also got an appointment within a week due to a cancellation which surprised me. I thought I would have to wait months to get in.

I wish I could rate this doctor but after waiting almost 4 months to see her I was told by her office staff that my appointment had been canceled months ago. When I inquired why hey said and I quote “we have no idea”. I assumed they would try to accommodate me with something sooner - nope they said we can get you in late April. This place can’t even schedule a simple appointment. The sad part is someone told me to go see Dr Harden and now I will never know if she really is that good.

Dr. Harden takes great care to make sure that your needs are well met. She consistently offers help if needed. And takes as much time as needed with each patient. Very strait forward and to the point. Prefers other treatments over prescribing more med.

Uncertain why Laurie has so many poor reviews. It is rare that you find a Dr who actually listens to your thoughts before forcing theirs on you. Recently i had to call her on the weekend regarding a medication mishap and she returned my call immediately. If you want a Dr to listen and offer advice based on your thoughts as well as their own, you won’t find one better. If you prefer to be told what to do and have zero input in your treatment, maybe not for you.

Dr Harden discharged me with 0 warning. She is cold, She just throws more meds at your problems.

Ok doctor. Absolutely horrific, uneducated, stigmatizing support staff at APG Health. If you want to be treated like a stereotyped "crazy" patient with mental illness, go here. If you want to be treated like a human being, go elsewhere. And if you happen to find yourself in crisis, expect to wait the better half of a week before anyone calls you back only to tell you to make "the first available appointment."

I found her to be matter of fact, thorough and I was confident being seen by her.

She was very helpful, a great listener and problem solver. My life has changed for the better since I have been seeing her regularly.
