Life-Saving Surgery: My Journey with Dr. Spier
I cannot thank Dr. Spier enough! He and the NYU team successfully removed a rare bronchogenic cyst from my mediastinum through minimally invasive robotic resection. Dr. Spier was supportive, answered all my questions, and showed exceptional care. I highly recommend him, especially for rare diseases or complex surgeries.Despite his busy schedule, Dr Spier saw me quickly and explained the procedure in detail. Other surgeons were unsure about removing even a quarter or half of the chest mass. Dr. Spier successfully performed the surgery & fully removed the cyst despite its proximity to vital organs. Within two days, I was discharged and on the road to recovery. Dr. Spier’s skill, professionalism, and compassion made all the difference.

Dr Spier saved my life and can not say enough how grateful i am. In Oct. 2011 was diagnosed with lung cancer and again Oct. 2015 both times was 1A. He removed left lower in 2011 right middle in 2015. He followed me closely did not need chemotherapy either time. My pulmonologist wanted C/T scans once ayear after first diagnosis. Dr Spier wanted me to go every 3-6 months. That is how he caught second one so early again. I am now 64 and just had first grandchild. GOD BLESS Dr Spier and his family

Dr Spier is too quick to recommend surgery without checking a patient's prior records. Beware, and get a second opinion before going under the knife. Dr. Spier made 'light' of major lung surgery, which I came to find out is unnecessary.

I went to Dr. Laurence Spier to have a nodule removed at Winthrop University Hospital in July 2017. He had Dr. Jessica Baer as his Anesthesiologist to do the intubation prior to surgery. She paralyzed my vocal cords. I was in the ICU for 4 days, Then moved to a bed in the hospital for several weeks. I had to be fed through an IV. I was sent to Gurwin Nursing and Rehab. for several weeks. I eventually had non invasion surgery removal of the nodules in another hospital. It was through rib c

In my opinion Dr Spier is the most competent dortor I have ever met. Beside being an exceptional doctor his bed side manner is reassuring, compassionate and knowledgeable. I owe my life to him. He performed robotic surgery on my fifth lobe. Which had cancer involvement. Three years later I am still going strong. Like I said he saved my life in the most caring capable hands. He is brilliant. Thank you.

Dr. Spier did surgery on my right lung on 1/19/2018, and I can't thank him enough for saving my life. I knew the minute I met him that he was the doctor that would help me. He was wonderful, kind and explained everything to me and my husband in terms that we understood. He took all the time we needed with him and the surgery went great. I would recommend Dr. Spier to anyone. He is a Doctors Doctor. God Bless him. Angela Barchi

Dr Spier performed cancer surgery on my left lung in November of 2016. I was released from the hospital 36 hours after arriving, and after surgery, and am now cancer free. Other than follow-ups, there are no other restrictions. Dr. Spier saved my life.

Dr. Spier is a totally positive person who makes one believe that all is fine. He operated on me for stage 3b lung cancer six years ago using vats surgery and my recovery from the operation that removed two lobes of my right lung was almost immediate. Six years later and at the age of 78 I am in perfect health.

Initially wonderful, took time explaining his finding of lung cancer, allayed my fears, spent time trying to scheduled me to be seen by a pulmologist. Unfortunately after surgery visited me only twice during my 10 day hospital stay. On day nine of my stay I explained my agitation to his P.A. that I was still in the hospital having been told average stay is 4-5 days and her answer was it's not our fault YOU have leaky lungs. Not very professional in my opinion.
