Dr. Laura Tom, MD

Had a horrible experience with Dr. Tom and her office. She was 1.5 hours late to my Telehealth appointment, communicating with her staff was a nightmare, and I went to 3 months of PT and 2 appointments with her for my insurance to deny my coverage for my plastic surgery. She had assured me that I would have no problem getting insurance to approve my procedure, and then when they wouldn't, her office offered no help, and they refused to accept out of pocket payment for my procedure -- despite Med Star saying that every office of theirs does. Please find a private provider and do NOT go to Dr. Tom. I have never left a bad review in my life, but I feel I need to warn others of Dr. Tom and the Med Star plastic surgery office.

Dr. Laura Tom is simply amazing. I met her during the worst time of my life and it is because of her and her beautiful talent that I am here. She returned to me, in part, that which fortune took, or tried to take. For that, I am eternally grateful to Dr. Tom many universal blessings to Dr. Tom, and her wonderful team.

This review is on behalf of my sister who has undergone surgery by Dr Tom. My entire family is mortified by the extent of agony, distress, damage, disrespect my sister has been put through by Dr Tom.She has suffered so much complications and Dr. Tom does not even acknowledge or take responsibility for her botched surgery. Dr Tom did not see my sister or the family post surgery and there was no follow up except for one visit. After that my sister has been followed by nurse practitioner who answers to all my sisters and mothers questions by saying she does not know the answer, and she was not in the surgery. My sister is a strong woman but she is now destroyed physically, mentally , and emotionally in the hands of Dr Tom. Where is the justice or care ? Where is compassion ? Why would a doctor act more like a butcher than a doctor ? Why would DrTom destroy another woman's body and use human body for teaching Students. This is warning for all women be aware of this Doctor. Stay clear!!!!

Very bad experience with Dr. Laura Tom. Doctor has a very bad technique and terrible and bad attitude. Please don't use her. You will be sorry just as I am sorry for going to her.

She did my panniculectomy and it was a success, my incision is neat and healed quickly, and her bedside manor was very pleasant even during the last few month of her pregnancy. My only complaint is that the office is short staffed and it has taken longer for a response than before
