Dr Garner explained my back problems very clearly as well as all of my options. After choosing a surgical intervention, he also thoroughly explained the procedure and what to expect afterwards. My experience with Dr Garner has been very positive and I would highly recommend him.

Visit with Dr. Gardner
My appointment was at 8:00 AM, however was not seen by the Doctor for about 30 - 40 minutes. I was happy to find out that Doctor Gardner spent that time reviewing my current test results with those that were done in 2018. As a result he had a much better understanding of what my issue was. He used the information from both results to very clearly explain what was wrong and what my options were. He answered all my questions in a manner which I could understand. I’m very impressed with the professionalism and down to earth manner he expressed.

Very impressed!
It was great to meet Dr. Lars! He was very kind and informative. I was there to discuss surgery. He was very honest with me and referred me to another surgeon who specializes in my type of scoliosis. Although I was a little disappointed...I do appreciate his honesty and referral!!! I highly recommend him...very personable and honest and caring.

Exceptional Experience
Dr. Lars Gardner and his staff at Raleigh Neurosurgery Clinic have restored my faith in the medical field. From my interaction with his front of house office staff, to his incredibly kind and competent PA who answered my questions; step by step of my visit I felt reassured and cared for from the start. Dr. Lars is currently treating me for unexplained muscle atrophy and nerve pain in my legs. Up until now, this has been an unsettling and scary journey and I am so grateful I have found Dr. Lars. He took the time to explain all diagnostic testing I will need moving forward to understand and diagnose my condition. Thank you for truly caring about your patients! I highly recommend Dr. Gardner!

Exceptional Neurosurgeon!
Dr. Lars Gardener, DO is absolutely incredible!! He performed an extensive Anterior and Posterior C-Spine surgery on me in late March 2024. He is the consummate professional yet easy to talk to. He’s absolutely brilliant, compassionate with a steady hand. There’s a reason he’s a Top Doc from one year to the next. He’s the most down-to-earth staff of professionals you’ll ever meet. If I could give him 10 stars I would. Look no further for your neurosurgeon because you’ll not find better.

I have seen Dr Lars Gardner for chronic back pain.
Dr Lars is an outstanding medical professional! He is patient with my questions & explains things well. He’ll be performing a spinal cord stimulator implant in my spine next month. While I’m anxious about the surgery, I trust him completely! Members of his staff are caring & compassionate, & when I message or call them, they respond quickly. I give Dr Lars 100 stars!!!!

The best of the best
Dr. Lars has performed 2 cervical spine disc replacements on me. He is by far the best neurosurgeon that I have ever seen! He combines a fantastic bedside manner with clinical expertise and makes you feel valued, heard and respected. He has a kindness about him that you don’t normally get with neurosurgeons. His clinical expertise took my pain away and I was back to work within a week both times! I am truly fortunate to have him care for me! Thank you also to his amazing clinic staff; the PAs and medical assistants, as well as his clinical coordinator, are fantastic as well!

Traumatic brain injury
Dr. Lars Gardner,, saved my life. Last year, 2023, in April I suffered a traumatic brain injury in my home. I was rushed to trauma center in WakeMed in Raleigh and Dr. Gardner, did the surgery. My brain was bleeding and was pushed to one side of my head, and it was in a dangerous spot, but he performed a miracle as far as I am concerned. And then two months later I had a mini stroke, and after Dr. Gardner, ordered tests, I had to have another brain surgery, because the right side of my brain was bleeding. He is doing surgery on my back next month because I suffer from chronic back pain. If you need a neurosurgeon, this is the man to go to. if I could

Dr Lars takes time to explain the procedure and issues that can happen. I had nerve pain due to L4-L5 issues so my surgery was repair, fix with bars and screws. The day after my surgery my legs were pain free and I could walk again. I have already recommended Dr Lars Gardner to friends who are having back issues. Thank you Dr Lars and your staff.

Very impressed
Dr. Gardner explained thoroughly what my problem was, how he could fix it and gave a realistic recovery time. While I went for a second opinion, I wound up scheduling a much less invasive surgery with him than what was recommended by another doctor. His staff was great, x-ray technician, surgery scheduling department were kind and caring.

Outstanding! Been hurting with L4/L5 for over 8 years! Finally decided to have surgery. He did a great job and I am able to do things I haven’t done in many years! I very must recommend getting a second opinion from him before you let another surgeon cut on you! I won’t go anywhere else f I need surgery down the road!

Dr. Lars Gardner performed a spinal fusion of my lumbar 2-5 vertebrae about 6 weeks ago. I interviewed 2 other neurosurgeons, and both were acceptable, but Dr. Gardner inspired me with his careful explanations of the procedure and his expertise with a robotic arm. This allowed for more precise placement of the screws and hardware he used and resulted in less tissue damage than traditional methods. I am recovering quickly and have had wonderful follow up care from Dr. Gardner and his PA's. I recommend him not only for his medical skills and knowledge, but also his personality.
