Dr. Lanika Lawler, MD

Lanika (I won’t even refer to her as “Doctor”) simply wanted to get through the telehealth appointment as quickly as possible, spending just enough time to bill my insurance company while being as least helpful as possible. A couple of days ago, I cracked my back tooth on a piece of hard candy - it didn’t seem horrible, so I called my dentist and cannot be seen until next month. I woke up this morning with pain, pressure, and slightly swelling, so I decided to use a service my insurance offers instead of trying to get in with my PCP, which is where I was matched up with Lanika. Not only did she refuse to prescribe any kind of antibiotic, she suggested I go be seen at an Urgent Care or ER for my simple tooth pain. To be clear, I was ONLY asking for an antibiotic, but she treated me as if I had asked her to prescribe a narcotic. So, she did the bare minimum to receive payment. I can only guess she does this work because she’s such a stellar practitioner that has a line out the door.

Absolutely not. Nothing was resolved. she ended the chat fast. She told me she couldn’t help because I had a provider even though I explained to her I no longer have one and that I stopped seeing that provider a week ago. Very dismissive and not empathetic at all. I sent her a message in the app and she ended the chat right after.

I was pretty shocked upon review of my appointment notes to see this oddly condescending content (and I don't see it supplied by other docs in the past, so we assume it's your "addition"). For a UTI, a common problem for women of all ages and persuasions, Lanika writes amongst the helpful notes of drink plenty of fluids and use AZO over the counter to help with pain and discomfort for 48 hours (duh), "bathroom hygiene counseling." Oof. That's a big no ma'am. Even us fully potty trained adults understand superiority. Maybe something for you to work on doc!
