Dr. Landon Meekins, MD

I was looking for someone locally who understood my medical situation better. He was by far the weakest of all specialists I have been to for this condition. He was dismissive and didn't understand why accurate dx was important. My other doctors have been very supportive in this being a possible misdiagnosis and he just didnt care. If it is correct, I am fine. If not, I need it addresssed. The diagnosis makes it hard for me to get proper care for my adrenal insufficiency when I need to go to the ER. He didn't understand this or why I would go to the ER. He also claimed to agree with my long time NO when he didn't. My long time NO at VCU has been outstanding. However, Dr Meekins' opinion was the most traditional and simplistic of all the NOs and neurologists I have been to; it didn't match my experience. He only mentioned a repeat lp as the only possibility. Other specialists have said this was useless for fluctuating pressure and had other recommendations. He was not even aware of this testing. Other specialists will discuss but he talked down to me. I have other specialists that get what I experience and the importance of proper dx that offered referrals. Dr Meekins' didn't understand why I didn't want a referral or followup from him when he wasn't listening and didn't understand. I prefer to get referrals from doctors that listen and care. I prefer doing followup with doctors that have explanations that make sense in terms of what I experience. I have never walked out on a doctor before in decades of dealing with rare diseases but I did walk out on him because of his attitude. He then documented things incorrectly in my medical record. He may be good for anything routine but he was the least interested and skilled of anybody I have been to.

Needed a physicians referral for the appt. Neuro Opthamologists are rare in this area.

I have been seeing Doctor Meekins for over a year. I had double vision issues and he diagnosed Myasthenia Gravis. The testing he ordered verified his diagnosis. Prior to seeing Doctor Meekins, my Ophthalmologist sent me to a doctor at VCU who did NOTHING. Doctor Meekins and his staff are top notch and I highly recommend him.

This doctor is patient and exams eyes carefully. This is my first visit. Will write more later after ongoing treatment.
