Hand surgery
After repeated visits to an accupuncturist which increased my pain I finally consented to surgery. Dr . Bruton was competent and caring. I was impressed with the extreme care he took to prevent infection in Latrobe Hospital. The outcome was great and the pain problem was solved.

Carpal Tunnel Surgery
I highly recommend Dr. Brunton if you are in need of hand surgery. My recent surgery went exceptionally well. Dr Brunton was very friendly during my first meeting with him to go over my nerve test results and recommended surgery procedure. I was not having feeling in my thumb and first two fingers. He explained the procedure. I was nervous about the anastasia but Dr Brunton assured me that there would not be a problem because it was just a twilight amount and the surgery was only about 15 minutes long. I chose to have the surgery done at Laurel Surgery Center, Greensburg, Pa. The staff there was very friendly and took excellent care of me before and after the surgery. I highly recommend this facility and staff. After surgery, Dr. Brunton visited me in the recovery room to be sure I was fine. After that the attending nurse reviewed what I needed to do at home and left written instructions with me. In conclusion, Dr. Brunton is a skilled friendly surgeon.

Broken wrist treatment
Dr. Brunton’s world class training and high experience level enabled him to recommend the appropriate (more conservative) treatment option for my complicated wrist fracture. The care I have received from Dr. Brunton and his entire staff has been nothing short of fantastic! Residents in Westmoreland County PA are fortunate to have such a professional available to care for them!

pass on this surgeon
I just felt humiliated by the whole “consult.” I don’t doubt his “expertise.” I do doubt his “bedside manner.” I will not go back.

I will not return
I will not go back. Dr Brunton has little more than a token investment in problems or solutions that do not lead to surgeries that he himself will perform. Find a surgeon who cares more about you than his own schedule (and reimbursements). I do not even want to go back to Excela but I may have no choice.

Too “efficient”
I presume Dr Lance Brunton has adequate surgical skill, but I felt like he made up his mind about how to “dispatch” me before he came into the room for my “consultation.” It feels like the “excela way.” New name but still on brand and Brunton is the exemplar. You at least make a show that you are actually listening instead of waiting to interrupt me to drive the “consultation” to a conclusion. I will not go back.

unhelpful, not interested in “caring”
I think Dr Brunton is most likely a skilled doctor but he can be very brusque at visits that are not in his “wheel house.” I felt like I was wasting his time. I would not go back even if I thought there was more he or excela hospital could do. It’s sad.

Pleasant and professional
Dr. Brunton was pleasant, took the time to explain my condition in detail and was very professional. I was seen at my appointment time with very little wait time. I was given an appointment very quickly as well.

Dismissive
After waiting an hour and a half, he took one look at my hand, saw I wasn't a surgical candidate and couldn't wait to get out of the room. Dismissed or scoffed at any concerns I had. Told me to come back when my fingers started to curl under! Wow, had a staff member bring in a brochure and show me out. There are things I can do to delay surgery, which I am pursuing (after doing my own research). If it progresses to surgery, will find someone else.

Waste of time
Waited three months to see this doctor and was in and out of his office in ten minutes. Other Dr's were talking about needed surgeries and I wanted a second opinion. But Dr. Brunton, said I didn't need surgery and said I should see a rheumatologist. Then he left and never came back in with rheumatologist suggestions. I have already seen a rheumatologist who told me, I didn't have rheumatoid arthritis after a battery of tests performed. Well, I guess this was just a waste of time for me and my husband to come out here, and will have to start the whole process all over again with a new Orthopedic Dr.. I just can't win!!! Before you go just check the reviews first, they are pretty much spot on.

country club surgeon
It is no issue of competence. This surgeon is just part of “the club” and is very clear when you are not part of it. Dr Lance Brunton does not contain it when your orthopedic complaints are not in his “wheelhouse.” Go to a surgeon who works in a clinic, not a “country club.”

Not helpful
I saw dr brunton after being seen for a chronic joint problem by another doctor in the rxcela orthopedic group. Dr brunton could not hide his contempt for this other doctor as he seemed to want nothing to do with my case. I had a long and trusted relationship with the prior doctor, but after that experience with dr brunton I am leaving both doctors. And I will not return to excela. I was so defeated and disheartened by the whole experience of seeing him. I can’t even bear to tell the other doctor about the experience. I just want to be done. And yet I still had nothing done about my joint problem.

He was clearly frustrated with me for bringing my problem to him “a surgeon” instead of to an “arthritis specialist” which he apparently is not. “I’m not an arthritis specialist” he said. Ok I get it. I need to see someone else. I was humiliated.

Dr brunton is smart enough as a surgeon but he clearly selects for problems within his narrow practice speciality and invests little in problems that do not necessitate operative intervention. He does not disguise it. No poker face.
