Run away! This surgeon tried to push me towards a double mastectomy I didn’t need. I was diagnosed with DCIS (stage 0, non-invasive breast cancer), unilateral, unifocal area. DCIS is treated with lumpectomy and radiotherapy, or mastectomy of the affected breast alone. I chose the later to avoid radiotherapy and to keep my healthy breast. She said she’ll only do a bilateral mastectomy on me and refused to operate. She also wanted to do the reconstruction during the same surgery which is not recommended in patients like me who previously received radiotherapy to the chest area. She also convinced me to do a genetic test that I didn’t need, an MRI that resulted in false positives requiring additional painful biopsies, and told me I needed to visit the rest of her team ASAP (an oncologist and radiotherapist). I didn’t need chemo and or radiotherapy.

Dr. Tongson deserves 10 STARS! I had breast cancer in both breasts DCIS. Dr. Tongson performed a literal miracle by saving my aereola and nipples during my surgery. When I first met her she drew pictures for me to understand what my cancer was. She’s very passionate and compassionate with her practice. This combination is hard to find. I am cancer FREE because of her. Don’t go anywhere else for your cancer surgery, drive straight to her office. You won’t be disappointed! I am so grateful to you Dr. Tongson for the amazing work you did with my double mastectomy. Thank you for making sure I wasn’t in pain after the surgery. Thank you for visiting me every day in the hospital and not rushing me out. Thank you for telling me I’m still beautiful. You are truly remarkable.
