Thanavaro is Outstanding in every way!
I met her in the critical care 1 day after my heart attack. She needed to put me to sleep to then stabilise my heart rhythm. She said, 'don't worry, we are with you now, and will be with you through this forward' That was in 2015, she is my cardiologist today in Feb 2025. Kristen is whip smart, with great bedside manner. She listens. She makes certain you are afforded the best way, activities, and plans toward one's best maintenance and recovery. She visits you when you are in the hospital on unrelated matters. Kristin is a bit quirky in the finest meaning of that word. Extremely relatable. She has answered questions outside of appointments that were important but did not require a full visit. Woman has heart of Gold. She treated has me as if I was her father.

I was there due to fainting episodes that happened several times per day. While there I nearly passed out while she was taking a blood pressure. Had my wife not been there to catch me I would have crashed to the floor as the doctor and her assistants were too busy watching the cuff to do anything when I said I was about to pass out. She then put me on a heart monitor and said we needed to have me wear that for a month before a follow up. I was still fainting 2-3 times/day. So, pressed for more testing. After the tests she said there's no reason for me to continue wearing the monitor. Follow up in a month. Again, really? Continue passing out 2-3 times per day for the next month? Then what? I'm still waiting for serious injuries from passing out. She seemed very uncaring and as if she had now clue what I should do or who I should see other than her in another month.

I came out of the visit with a strong reason to believe that I could not trust the doctor personally or professionally. I also did not appreciate the heaping helping of condescension from start to finish in our ~5 minute conversation. It sounds from the other reviewers that this isn't typical, but based on my experience, go with a different practice.

I was happy with her time and knowledge. She explained my condition and I did not feel rushed explaining my concerns. Also enjoyed talking with her about her giant schnauzer puppy and my wife's concerns with our crazy puppies need to eat socks! So we covered my health and my puppies health.

Dr. Thanavaro is a phenomenal person and physician! If she is your doctor you are lucky. She cares greatly about her patients, is personable, and extremely professional! She is also very knowledgeable. After doing research to find a doctor I found that her background includes: - an undergraduate degree at Princeton, - Medical school at George Washington University, - Residency at University of Maryland, and - Fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University!

Saw her for a new patient visit. Barely took 5 minutes in the room, didn't really take the time to explain things. I felt like she was essentially dismissing me and my symptoms. Considering that I'm a health care provider and would never treat a patient that way, it was disappointing to say the least. I'll be finding a new provider next time I need to be seen.

I have been seeing Dr Thanavaro now for about 6 months. I have a complex set of issues including POTS - a positional arrhythmia. I am so fortunate to have found Dr Thanavaro; she has helped me learn how to manage my symptoms better and she has created a treatment plan specific to only essential testing/treatments to avoid wasteful spending. Her staff is amazing too!

I went for an increase in PACs and was concerned. A few years before I went to an ER and found out my potassium was lower than normal. She decided I must have an anxious personality, and "some people feel them more than others." It has been 6 mos since we found out we had a slow and chronic carbon monoxide leak in our house. Gee, my PACs are gone. And to think it wasn't my "anxious" personality. Find someone better, she epitomizes the problems with medicine today. Not listening.

I was referred to this doctor by my primary for heart evaluation but received absolutely no follow-up-- not even results. I had to call for them. This does not seem to be appropriate for a specialist. I will seek future care elsewhere, if I need to. I was very disappointed.
