Great doctor, poor admin team
My experience with Dr Hawthorne for over fifteen years has been wonderful. I will no longer be going to her clinic as the admin staff is totally unhelpful in dealing with issues involving insurance and Medicare. Their basic position is it is the patient's problem. No interest in being helpful. I'll be looking for a new eye doctor now.

Cornea surgery
Dr. Hawthorne did surgery removing a nodule from my cornea, which was very successful. My astigmatism has practically gone away as a result and I am seeing things more vividly. She and her staff ranked very high with me. Thank you very much Dr. Hawthorne.

Insensitive, brusk, arrogant
Unapologetically used me as an example for her medical student in a pretty humiliating way.

I had cataract surgery with the stated goal to maintain farsightedness. After the procedure I am now nearsighted and can only see clearly at a distance of 2-3 feet. In addition I have negative dysphotopsias so have an arc of impaired vision at the bottom 1/3 of my eye. Dr Hawthorne stated that she has no fine control of the visual outcome but that she can make the other eye farsighted to compensate or can do Lasik at additional cost to me afterwards to correct things. Really? I have never used glasses except for reading before this. Why would she ever imagine I would allow her to do surgery on my other eye when she told me she couldn't control the outcome on the first? I read her notes from my last visit which said that I wanted to try wearing glasses and wait to see if I can get used to them. I don't WANT to have to suddenly start wearing glasses for everything but have no other choice at this time since I can't safely drive or even do my trail walking. Devastating to me.
